Commandos (film)
''Commandos'' a.k.a. Sullivan's Marauders is a 1968 Italian-produced war film filmed on Sardinia starring Lee Van Cleef and Jack Kelly and directed by Armando Crispino. Plot The film is set in the middle of World War II, and in the deserts of Africa, Sgt. Sullivan (Lee Van Cleef) puts together a group of Italian-Americans into disguise as Italian soldiers in order to infiltrate a North African camp held by the Italians. Sullivan, along with Dino (Romano Puppo), was one of three that survived from the Pacific War against the Japanese, although Lieutenant Freeman was killed in his last mission. Armando Crispino (18 October 1924 – 6 October 2003) was an Italian film director and screenwriter. He was born in Biella, Piedmont. He directed nine films between 1966 and 1975. He also wrote for nine films between 1965 and 1975. He also directed two Italian horror films, ''Autopsy'' and ''The Dead Are Alive''. Pier Paolo Capponi
Pier Paolo Capponi (9 June 1938 – 15 February 2018) was an Italian actor and screenwriter. Life and career Born in Subiaco, after his studies Capponi attended a theater school and later was chosen by director Vittorio De Seta for an important role in ''Un uomo a metà''. His film career was divided equally between ''auteur'' films (with, among others, Paolo e Vittorio Taviani, Valerio Zurlini, Gérard Corbiau, Francesco Rosi and Nelo Risi) and genre films, in which he was sometimes credited as Norman Clark. On the big screen with some regularity for a decade, after 1977 Capponi focused his appearances on TV series and on stage. Euro War
Euro War, also known as Macaroni Combat, Macaroni War, Spaghetti Combat, or Spaghetti War, is a broad subgenre of war film that emerged in the mid-1960s. The films were named ''Euro War'' because most were produced and directed by European co-productions, most notably and commonly by Italians, as indicated by the subgenre's other nicknames that draw parallels to those films within the mostly Italian Spaghetti Western genre. Duilio Del Prete (25 June 1938 – 2 February 1998) was an Italian actor, dubber and singer-songwriter. Del Prete was born at Cuneo, Piedmont. As a singer-songwriter, he wrote political songs and recorded an album of Jacques Brel's covers; he also wrote songs for several artists. As an actor, he participated to several films of the ''commedia all'italiana'', including '' My Friends'' and ''Alfredo, Alfredo'', both by Pietro Germi, and '' Sessomatto''. He also played in several foreign films, including two for director Peter Bogdanovich, ''Daisy Miller'' (1974) and '' At Long Last Love'' (1975). Del Prete died in Rome of cancer in 1998.
