Comix Book Shop
Comix Book Shop is a Brazilian comic book store founded October 31, 1986, by Carlos Mann. History Carlos Mann worked for a few years at newsstands, until he decided to buy his own in 1986, at Alameda Lorena, in the Jardins neighborhood, in São Paulo. Looking for a differentiator, Carlos started working with an importer that offered a kind of "subscription" to imported comic books, guaranteeing the regularity of their distribution (at the time, it was practically impossible to get imported comics in Brazil). In a short time, there were 200 permanent customers who regularly purchased a large amount of magazines. With the success, the store, already called Comix, started to sell collectible card game, which made the space full on Saturdays. As the space was relatively small for the growing number of customers, Mann moved the store to a two-story high street store on Alameda Jaú, in the same neighborhood. Prêmio Angelo Agostini
Prêmio Angelo Agostini (Angelo Agostini Award), sometimes also called Troféu Angelo Agostini (Angelo Agostini Trophy), is the most traditional comics award in Brazil. It was created in 1985 by the Associação dos Quadrinhistas e Caricaturistas do Estado de São Paulo (AQC-ESP), which still organizes the event today. The award's name pays homage to Angelo Agostini, considered at the time the pioneer artist of Brazilian comics. The event also seeks to take place, whenever possible, on Dia do Quadrinho Nacional ("National Comics Day", in January 30), the same date in which, in 1869, the first episode of the Agostini's sequential art series ''As Aventuras de Nhô Quim ou Impressões de Uma Viagem à Corte'' was published. Lourenço Mutarelli (born April 18, 1964) is a Brazilian comic book artist, writer and actor who became well regarded in the Brazilian underground comics scene in the late 1980s and 1990s. In addition to comic books, Mutarelli has also created plays, books, and all the illustration and animated sequences of the 2004 motion picture '' Nina'', which was based on the novel ''Crime and Punishment'' by Dostoyevsky. ''Drained'', released in 2006, is a movie adaptation of Mutarelli's first literary work, ''O Cheiro do Ralo''; and he plays a minor role in the film. Franco De Rosa (editor)
Franco de Rosa (born in São Paulo on January 2, 1956) is a Brazilian journalist, editor and comics artist. He started his career in 1974, with the comic strips ''Chucrutz'' and ''Capitão Caatinga'', published in some Brazilian newspapers, such as ''Notícias Populares''. From 1980, he started to make illustrations for newspapers and magazines. In 1984 he founded, alongside Paulo Paiva, the publishing house Maciota (also known as Press), which lasted until the 1990s. Eugenio Colonnese
Eugenio Colonnese ( Fuscaldo, September 3rd, 1929 - Santo André, August 8th, 2008) was an Italian-born Brazilian comic artist. Son of a Brazilian mother (who is African, Portuguese and Indigenous) and Italian father, Colonnese moved to Argentina as a child, where he began his career in 1949, working for several Argentine magazines. He moved to Brazil in 1964. André Diniz
André Diniz (Rio de Janeiro, September 5, 1975) is a Brazilian comics artist. He began working with comics in 1994 with the fanzine ''Grandes Enigmas da Humanidade'', which had a circulation of 5,000 copies. Diniz's first professional works were in 1997 and 1998, when he participated in two projects of Taquara Editorial: ''Tiririca em Quadrinhos'' and ''O Estranho Mundo de Zé do Caixão'', respectively comics adaptations for the clown Tiririca and the movie character Coffin Joe, created by the filmmaker José Mojica Marins. Álvaro De Moya
Álvaro de Moya ( São Paulo, July 19th, 1930 - São Paulo, August 14th, 2017) was a Brazilian journalist, professor, researcher, comics artist, illustrator, writer and TV producer. He was one of the pioneers in academic research on comics in Brazil and one of those responsible for the First International Exhibition of Comics, held in São Paulo in 1951 (the first exhibition of comics in Brazil and one of the first in the world). Moya worked on the Disney comics published by Editora Abril, published novel adaptations at the EBAL publishing house, and made cartoons, illustrations and articles about comics for several newspapers. His first book, ''Shazam!'', published in 1970, is considered one of the most important for Brazilian research on comics. Festival Internacional de Quadrinhos (FIQ) is a comic convention held in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, every two years. History In 1997, the third edition of Bienal Internacional de Quadrinhos (''International Comics Biennial'') was held in Belo Horizonte. This was an annual comic event held previously in Rio de Janeiro in 1991 and 1993 (the 1995 edition didn't happen because it lost the financial support of the Rio de Janeiro City Hall, which made the event change to Belo Horizonte). Collectible Card Game
A collectible card game (CCG), also called a trading card game (TCG) among other names, is a type of card game that mixes strategy game, strategic deck building elements with features of trading cards, introduced with ''Magic: The Gathering'' in 1993. Generally a Player (game), player may begin playing a CCG with a pre-made Booster pack#Starter deck, starter deck, and then customize their deck with a random assortment of cards acquired through booster packs, or from trading with other players, building up their own library of cards.
