Im Kwon-taek
Im Kwon-taek (born December 8, 1934) is one of South Korea's most renowned film directors. In an active and prolific career, his films have won many domestic and international film festival awards as well as considerable box-office success, and helped bring international attention to the Korean film industry. As of spring 2015, he has directed 102 films. Early life Im Kwon-taek was born in Jangseong, Jeollanam-do and grew up in Gwangju. After the Korean War, he moved to Busan in search of work. He then moved to Seoul in 1956, where Jeong Chang-hwa, director of ''Five Fingers of Death'' (1972), offered him room and board for work as a production assistant. Jeong recommended him for directing in 1961. Career Im's directorial premiere was with the 1962 film, '' Farewell to the Duman River'' (''Dumanganga jal itgeola''). The Grand Bell Awards (), also known as the Daejong Film Awards, is an awards ceremony presented annually by The Motion Pictures Association of Korea for excellence in film in South Korea. The Grand Bell Awards retains prestige as the oldest continuous film awards held in South Korea, and has been called the Korean equivalent of the American Academy Awards. Choi Jong-won (born January 27, 1950) is a South Korean actor and politician. Choi began his acting career in theater, then made his screen debut in 1978 and became known as a veteran actor of stage, film and television of over forty years. Kang Soo-yeon
Kang Soo-yeon (; August 18, 1966 – May 7, 2022) was a South Korean actress. An internationally acclaimed star from the mid-1980s to the end of the 1990s, she is often honorifically nicknamed as Korea's "first world star". Kang began her acting career as a child actor and gained national recognition with ''A High School Student's Diary'' on KBS 1TV (1983–1984), and the comedy films ''Whale Hunting 2'' (1985) and ''Mimi and Cheolsu's Youth Sketch'' (1987). However, she would remain unknown outside her own country until her breakout role in Im Kwon-taek's '' The Surrogate Woman'' (1987).
