Combat Team Conference
The Combat Team Conference (CTC) is a competition of military and law enforcement special operations units. Founded in 1983, it is hosted every four years by the GSG 9 of the German Federal Police in Sankt Augustin in Germany. History The CTC was initiated in 1983 by the former GSG 9 commanders Ulrich Wegener and Uwe Dee in order to improve cooperation among the different units and to encourage the exchange of ideas and experience. The first CTC in 1983 included 20 different participants which included special response units from the United States, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. Modern day events The most recent CTC was held in 2015. Participants included 43 participating teams which included special response units from Colombia, Hong Kong, Japan, and Thailand. The competition lasted six days and included hostage rescues, close quarter combat, marksmanship. Due to the international participants, English was introduced as the competition's official language. GSG 9

The state police (''Landespolizei'') maintain their own tactical units known as the ''Special Deployment Commando, Spezialeinsatzkommando'' (SEK). The identities of GSG 9 members are classified. Sankt Augustin
Sankt Augustin ( Ripuarian: ''Sank Aujustin'') is a town in the Rhein-Sieg district, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is named after the patron saint of the Divine Word Missionaries, Saint Augustine of Hippo (354-430). The Missionaries established a monastery near the current town centre in 1913. The municipality of Sankt Augustin was established in 1969, and on September 6, 1977 Sankt Augustin acquired town privileges (German: ''Stadtrechte''). Ulrich Wegener
Ulrich Klaus "Ricky" Wegener (22 August 1929 – 28 December 2017) was a German police officer and founding member of the counter-terrorist force GSG 9. Early life Wegener was born in Jüterbog, Brandenburg. He was conscripted into the Luftwaffe as a 15-year-old during the final days of World War II and spent a brief period as a prisoner in a US POW camp at the end of the war. After 1945 Brandenburg, Wegener's home state, fell within the borders of Communist East Germany. In the early 1950s Wegener was arrested for the illegal distribution of dissident pamphlets within East Germany and was imprisoned for one year. In 1952 Wegener moved to West Germany and participated in entrance examinations for the Officer Candidate School of the German Armed Forces. SWAT World Challenge
The Original SWAT World Challenge is an annual competition of law enforcement SWAT teams. It is usually held close to Little Rock, Arkansas, USA and its goals are to encourage exchange of ideas/techniques and promote the high level of tactical skills, mental focus and physical endurance possessed by SWAT Teams. History The event began in 2004 under its original name of World SWAT Challenge and was won by San Antonio, Texas. In 2005, Germany's GSG 9 won all eight events and in 2006 won four of the eight events maintaining its top SWAT World Challenge ranking. The event was renamed Original SWAT World Challenge in 2005 when the tactical footwear company Original SWAT became title sponsor, and has since been expanded into the World SWAT Series which will include regional competitions capable of hosting 25–30 competing teams.
