The Colorado Department of Higher Education (DHE) is the principal department of the Colorado state government responsible for implementing the policies of the Colorado Commission on Higher Education (CCHE).C.R.S. § 23-1-101 As the policy and advocacy coordinating board for Colorado's system of public higher education, the Department and Colorado Commission on Higher Education carry out the policies of the General Assembly and serve as a bridge between the Governor and Legislature and the governing boards of the institutions of higher education. The Department acts as a coordinating body for public two-year and four-year institutions and authorizes private schools and colleges to operate in the state. Angie Paccione
Angela Veronica "Angie" Paccione (born February 21, 1960) is a former Colorado legislator and was a 2006 Congressional candidate. A college basketball player at Stanford and professional basketball player in the 1980s, Paccione became a high school coach, teacher and administrator before earning a Ph.D. in education and joining the faculty of Colorado State University. Entering politics in 2002, Paccione, a Democrat, spent two terms representing west Fort Collins in the Colorado House of Representatives, rising to become House Majority Caucus Chair. The Government of Colorado is the governmental structure as established by the Constitution of the State of Colorado. It is composed of three branches: the executive branch headed by the Governor, the legislative branch consisting of the General Assembly, and the judicial branch consisting of the Supreme Court and lower courts.
