The Colorado 250 was a race held at Colorado National Speedway between 1995 and 1997 as part of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (originally SuperTruck Series presented by Craftsman). The first race, held as part of the series' inaugural season, was sponsored by Total Petroleum as the Total Petroleum 200, and saw the closest margin of victory in the history of the series as Butch Miller defeated Mike Skinner by 0.001 second. 1995 Total Petroleum 200
The 1995 Total Petroleum 200 took place on July 15 at Colorado National Speedway in Dacono, Colorado. This event was 200 laps long and it was the eleventh race (first season) of the series where it held the closest margin of victory in the history of the NASCAR SuperTruck Series. As Butch Miller and Mike Skinner were side by side on the last lap of the race, as Miller won the race by 0.001 of a second, it was Miller's only victory. The closest margin of victory since then was in the 2010 Mountain Dew 250 at Talladega Superspeedway, as Kyle Busch beat Aric Almirola by 0.002 of a second. Butch Miller (racing Driver)
Henry "Butch" Miller (born June 5, 1952) is an American retired stock car racing driver. He is a multi-time champion in the now-defunct American Speed Association stock car series. NASCAR Early career In 1985, Miller ran his first Busch Series races, driving for LeRoy Throop, driving the No. 08 MSW Spyders Pontiac in four events. He made four races, and had a 2nd-place finish at Bristol Motor Speedway. The next year, in 1986, he went to victory lane at the Indianapolis Raceway Park. That same season, he made his Winston Cup debut, finishing 16th in his first race. He ran two Cup races the next season for Throop, and then two races in the No. 31 Slender You Figure Salons Oldsmobile for Bob Clark in 1988. Mike Skinner (born June 28, 1957) is an American former stock car racing driver. He has competed in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, NASCAR Busch Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. He has most recently driven the No. 98 Ford Fusion for Phil Parsons Racing in the Cup Series. He is the father of former NASCAR drivers Jamie Skinner and Dustin Skinner. Ronald Lee Hornaday Jr. (born June 20, 1958) is an American former professional stock car racing driver. He is the father of former NASCAR driver Ronnie Hornaday and son of the late Ron Hornaday Sr., a two-time Winston West Champion. Hornaday is a four-time champion in the Camping World Truck Series, his most recent coming in 2009. He was a long-time driver in NASCAR's Winston West Series and is a Featherlite Southwest Tour Champion. Pikes Peak International Raceway (PPIR) is a racetrack in the Colorado Springs area within the city limits of Fountain, Colorado, that by October 12, 1997, was "the fastest 1-mile paved oval anywhere". The speedway hosted races in several series including the Indy Racing League and two NASCAR series ( Busch and Truck) until operations were suspended from 2005–08. A wide variety of amateur racing groups use PPIR for racing and training as the circuit is now closed to sanctioned professional auto racing due to the purchase of the track by PPIR LLC from NASCAR/ISC in 2008 after the track was put up for sale in 2006.
