Colonie Central High School
Colonie Central High School is a public high school in the town of Colonie, with the postal address of Albany, New York. In 2005 it had 2225 students and 132 classroom teachers. It is part of the South Colonie Central School District. The building principal was Christopher Robilotti until the 2020-2021 school year when Thomas Kachadurian was promoted. Academics Colonie High School offers Advanced Placement (AP) courses in numerous disciplines. In addition, the high school, in conjunction with nearby Hudson Valley Community College, offers several "College in High School courses", in which students can earn college credits for classes taken in the high school. Colonie also has a large technology department, where students can take all of the courses in the Project Lead the Way engineering sequence. Colonie, New York
Colonie is a town in Albany County, New York, United States. It is the most-populous suburb of Albany, and is the third-largest town in area in Albany County, occupying approximately 11% of the county. Several hamlets exist within the town. As of the 2020 census, the town had a total population of 85,590. The name is derived from the Dutch ''Colonye'' or "Colonie", derived from the Colonie of Rensselaerswyck. All the land outside the Village of Beverwyck (now Albany) was referred to as the "Colonie". The town of Colonie is north of Albany and is at the northern border of the county. Julia DeVillers is an American writer of books including '' How My Private, Personal Journal Became A Bestseller''. She had a cameo in the 2006 Disney Channel Original Movie, ''Read It and Weep'', which was based on the book. Life DeVillers attended Colonie High School in Albany, New York. David Gamble (born June 14, 1971) is a former wide receiver for the Denver Broncos. He was signed by the Broncos in 1997, and went on to win Super Bowl XXXII over the Green Bay Packers, however he was released in 1998 to clear roster space. Football career In May 1994, the Philadelphia Eagles signed David as a free agent. He was released during preseason and then signed with the San Antonio Texans of the Canadian Football League. ''The Daily Gazette'' is an independent, family-owned daily newspaper published in Schenectady, New York. ''The Daily Gazette'' also owns and operates ''The Amsterdam Recorder'', ''The Gloversville Leader-Herald'' and ''Your Niskayuna''. Tony Rossi (baseball)
Tony Rossi (born December 11, 1943) is an American college baseball coach and former player, currently serving as head coach of the Siena Saints baseball program. He was named to that position prior to the 1970 season. Rossi is the longest tenured coach with the same institution in NCAA Division I baseball, and only Augie Garrido has been a head coach for more years than Rossi. Rossi played at Brockport State, now SUNY Brockport for three seasons, turning down professional offers from the Los Angeles Dodgers and Cincinnati Reds in order to complete his degree. After ending his playing days, he briefly coached lacrosse at Siena before becoming head baseball coach of the then-NCAA Division II Saints.
