Colonel Wolodyjowski (film)
''Colonel Wolodyjowski'' ( pl, Pan Wołodyjowski) is a 1969 Polish historical drama film directed by Jerzy Hoffman. The film is based on the novel ''Pan Wołodyjowski'', by the Polish writer and Nobel laureate Henryk Sienkiewicz. The film was also serialized on Polish television, as ''The Adventures of Sir Michael'' (Polish: ''Przygody pana Michała''). It was entered in the 6th Moscow International Film Festival, where Tadeusz Łomnicki won the award for Best Actor. The story is set during the Ottoman Empire's invasion of Poland in 1668–1672. Jerzy Hoffman
Jerzy Julian Hoffman (; born 15 March 1932) is a Polish director, screenwriter, and producer. He received the Polish Academy Life Achievement Award in February 2006. Hoffman is best known for his works in ''The Deluge'' (1974) and ''With Fire and Sword'' (1999), the former of which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. His other notable credits were in ''Three Steps on Earth'' (1965) and '' Colonel Wolodyjowski'' (1969). Barbara Brylska
Barbara Brylska (born 5 June 1941) is a Polish actress who gained critical acclaim in 1960s and was featured in numerous films throughout the countries of the Warsaw Pact including the Soviet Union. She is noted especially for her role as ''Nadya'' in the 1976 Soviet comedy film ''Irony of Fate''. Biography Barbara Brylska was born on June 5, 1941, in Skotniki, near Łódź, Poland. At the age of 15, she was cast in the film ''Kalosze szczęścia''. After this role, she took acting lessons in a theater school and became a student at the National Film School in Łódź, where in 1967 she completed her acting education at the Faculty of Acting. Brylska's first major role was in the film ''Ich dzień powszedni'' (1963). The House of Lanckoroński (plural Lanckorońscy. Lithuanian - Lanskoronskiai) was an old Polish aristocratic family. Its representatives held power and influence in the Kingdom of Poland from the times of the late Piast dynasty (14th century) to the end of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth (18th century). History The Lanckoroński name derives from the village of Lanckorona in Lesser Poland, a site of a castle. The family had previously hailed from Brzezie (today part of the town of Wodzisław). Andrzej Tadeusz Szczepkowski (26 April 1923 – 31 January 1997) was a Polish actor. He appeared in more than 30 films and television shows between 1957 and 1997. John III Sobieski ( pl, Jan III Sobieski; lt, Jonas III Sobieskis; la, Ioannes III Sobiscius; 17 August 1629 – 17 June 1696) was King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania from 1674 until his death in 1696.
