Colombo International School
Colombo International School (CIS) is a private co-educational school in Colombo, Sri Lanka. It was founded in 1982 by Elizabeth Moir and employs an English-medium curriculum. In 1998 the school was expanded by the new Chairman of the Board of Directors, Armyne Wirasinha, who created a new branch, Colombo International School Kandy, in Mawilmada. The school provides a British curriculum-based education system which includes the IGCSE Examination for grades 10 and 11 and International Advanced Level for 6th form. History Establishment Colombo International School was established in 1982, shortly after Elizabeth Moir arrived in Sri Lanka. The school did not initially have a campus but instead operated out of various repurposed residential buildings and homes. Elizabeth Moir
Elizabeth Moir Tenduf-La, MBE is a British educationist in Sri Lanka. She founded the Colombo International School, British School in Colombo and the Elizabeth Moir School. Education Elizabeth Moir read mathematics at Oxford, where she captained the Oxford University Women’s Tennis team which beat Cambridge University 16 to 1 in 1961. She stayed on at Oxford to complete the Diploma in Education. Career Soon after, she joined the Diocesan Girls’ School in Hong Kong where she established the A Level Mathematics Department. After four years in Asia, Moir returned to England where she worked as an IBM systems analyst in the City of London. In 1982, she came to Sri Lanka, with her husband, Kesang Tenduf-La, and three children, and set up the Colombo International School. Anuradha Neelendra Dullewe Wijeyeratne ( Sinhala: අනුරාධ නිලේන්ද්ර දූල්ලෑව විජයරත්න) (born 22 March 1962) (known as '' Anuradha Dullewe Wijeyeratne'') is a Sri Lankan politician and entrepreneur, He has served as the acting Diyawadana Nilame (Chief lay Custodian) of the Sri Dalada Maligawa, Kandy on several occasions for three decades appointed by the Commissioner General of Buddhist Affairs with recommendation from Mahanayaka Theras of the Malwatte and Asgiriya Chapters of Siam Nikaya. Sujit Sivasundaram is a British Sri Lankan historian and academic. He is currently professor of world history at Gonville and Caius College, University of Cambridge. Early life Sivasundaram was born in Sri Lanka. He is the great grand son of Lawrie Muthu Krishna, editor of the ''Ceylonese'' newspaper and founder of The Polytechnic vocational school.
