The Liga Femenina Profesional de Fútbol Colombiano (Colombian Professional Women's Football League) or Liga Femenina BetPlay DIMAYOR (sponsored name) is the top level women's football league in Colombia. The first season was held in 2017, with 18 teams taking part. The champion qualifies to the Copa Libertadores Femenina. History Colombia women's football had only regional leagues until 2016. The entrant to the Copa Libertadores Femenina was decided in a tournament called Copa Pre-Libertadores, in which non-professional clubs took part. The winning team in all editions was Formas Íntimas. In 2016 a tournament called Campeonato Nacional Interclubes was held, organized by the División Aficionada del Fútbol Colombiano (Difútbol). About 40 teams played in four stages for the championship. Atlético Nacional Femenino is a professional women's football club based in Medellín, Colombia. They are the women's football section of Atlético Nacional and they currently play in the Colombian Women's Football League, the top level women's football league in Colombia. History Atlético Nacional Femenino was founded as a youth academy team on 25 August 2009, with the project being led by manager Diego Bedoya and supported by Víctor Marulanda. 2017 Colombian Women's Football League
The 2017 Colombian Women's Football League season (officially known as the 2017 Liga Águila Femenina season for sponsorship reasons) was the first season of Colombia's top-flight women's football league. The season started on 17 February and concluded on 24 June 2017. The two-legged final was played between Atlético Huila and Santa Fe. Santa Fe were the champions after beating Atlético Huila 2–1 in the first leg and 1–0 in the second leg for a 3–1 win on aggregate score, and qualified for the 2017 Copa Libertadores Femenina. Format The 18 teams competed in three round-robin regional hexagonals. The top two teams in each hexagonal along with the two best third-placed teams moved on to the quarterfinals, with the winners advancing to the semifinals. Real Santander is a professional Colombian football team based in Bucaramanga, that currently plays in the Categoría Primera B. They play their home games at the Estadio Villa Concha in Piedecuesta, a municipality in the metropolitan area of Bucaramanga.
