Collège Lionel-Groulx
Collège Lionel-Groulx is a general and vocational college (CEGEP) located in Sainte-Thérèse, Quebec, Canada. The college has about 5,200 full-time students and 2,000 continuing education students. History The college traces its origins to the merger of several institutions which became public ones in 1967, when the Quebec system of CEGEPs was created. The college was established September 14, 1967 and named in honour of the Quebec historian Lionel Groulx, a former student of the Seminary of St. Therese. Schools include the St. Rose Business School, the Normal School of St. Jerome and the Seminary of St. Therese. On October 8, 1968, the school was subject to a strike, which led to student mobilizations of October 1968. In 1969, the college acquired all the assets and property of the Seminary of Ste-Thérèse. CEGEP
A CEGEP ( or ; ), also written cégep, CÉGEP and cegep, is a publicly funded college providing technical, academic, vocational or a mix of programs; they are exclusive to the province of Quebec's education system. A loanword from French, it originates from the French acronym for , sometimes known in English as a "General and Vocational College"—it is now considered a word in itself. Although all colleges in Quebec are colloquially referred to as CEGEPs, only public colleges are officially referred to by that name. Both public (CEGEPs) and private colleges have the same function in Quebec. Julie Crochetière
Julie Crochetière (born July 10, 1980) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and pianist. Career Crochetière began playing piano at the age of six and continued her studies for another eight years. When she was thirteen she wrote her first song. In high school she began developing her singing voice, then studied music for two years at Collège Lionel-Groulx. In 2000, Crochetière joined the ''Popstars'' television series where she became a member of the band Sugar Jones. The band did two national tours and released the album ''Sugar Jones'' which was certified platinum in Canada and contained the top ten hits first "How Much Longer" and "Days Like That". Marc Nadon LL.L. (born September 7, 1949) is a supernumerary judge on the Canadian Federal Court of Appeal. He has practised law in both Quebec and the United Kingdom, focusing on maritime and transportation law. He was also an arbitrator and former lecturer in law at the Université de Sherbrooke. Nadon was nominated by Prime Minister Stephen Harper to be a puisne justice of the Supreme Court of Canada in October 2013. Following controversy about the appointment, the federal government referred the constitutionality of the appointment to the Supreme Court of Canada. Charline Labonté
Charline Labonté (born October 15, 1982) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. Labonté played professionally for the Montreal Stars/Les Canadiennes de Montreal of the Canadian Women's Hockey League. She was a member of the Canada women's national ice hockey team that won three gold medals at the Olympics and two gold medals in the World Championships.
