Collinsville is a rural locality in the Mid North region of South Australia, situated in the Regional Council of Goyder. It was established in August 2000, when boundaries were formalised for the "long established local name". It has almost exactly the same boundaries as the cadastral Hundred of Tomkinson, with small variations on its western border. The Hundred of Tomkinson was proclaimed on 18 September 1879 by Governor William Jervois, named after politician Samuel Tomkinson. Collinsville Post Office opened on 1 April 1896, named after the property of local grazier John Collins; it closed on 1 December 1917. The state Nomenclature Committee had recommended in 1916 that the post office be renamed 'Metiappa', an abridgement of 'Piltimetiappa', the Aboriginal name for a local creek and the name of another local station, but there is no record of this having occurred before the closure. It is composed of flat and hilly terrain with areas of saltbush and mallee scrub along with bluebush plains. Collinsville Station is best known as a merino stud, and historically, has been responsible for about one third of the genetics in the Australian sheep flock. The property was originally established by John Collins in 1889, and later named Collinsville and established as a sheep stud in 1895 with ewes from Koonana. Collinsville is a rural unincorporated community in Solano County, California, United States. It is located at the mouth of the Sacramento River, on the north side of the river where it debouches into the Suisun Bay. Collinsville is effectively separated from the more intense urban development in Contra Costa County immediately across the river, as no bridge exists connecting the two areas. The area was once proposed for a major chemical plant of the Dow Chemical Company in the 1980s. The community is in ZIP code 94585 and area code 707. The central portion of the village is a historic district listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was built around the Collins Company Axe Factory, a manufacturer of edge tools, such as axes, machetes, picks and knives. Collins machetes were the brand of choice in South America.
