Collegiate School (Richmond, Virginia)
Collegiate School is a preparatory school for boys and girls located in Richmond, Virginia. The student body of Collegiate comprises about 1,600 total students from Junior Kindergarten through 12th Grade. The Lower School and Upper School are coeducational and the Middle School is coordinated with boys and girls in separate classes. History Collegiate was founded in 1915, By Helen Baker as the Collegiate School for Girls, a college preparatory school located in downtown Richmond. In addition to this campus in town, Collegiate opened the Collegiate Country Day School, off Mooreland and River Roads, in 1953 Collegiate's Town School and the Country Day School merged on Mooreland Road in 1960. Today Collegiate still remains on the Mooreland Road campus and has purchased over in Goochland County. Collegiate had already developed 60 of these acres for athletic purposes. Robert Wrenn (golfer)
Robert Brenaman Wrenn Jr. (born September 11, 1959) is an American sportscaster and golf course design consultant; he is a former professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour and the Nationwide Tour. Wrenn was born in Richmond, Virginia. He attended Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and was an all-ACC member of the golf team in each of his four years from 1978–1981. He turned pro in 1981. Wrenn played in 308 PGA Tour events between 1982 and 1998 with 15 top-10 finishes including a victory at the 1987 Buick Open. He established the tournament record of 262 (26-under-par), which still stands. In fact, at the time this was only one stroke off the all-time PGA Tour record in a 72-hole tournament. Bret Myers (born April 1, 1980) is an American former soccer player and current professor. Myers played with the Williamsburg Wizards youth travel team, with the University of Richmond, and with the Richmond Kickers. He won a gold medal with Team USA at the 11th Pan American Maccabi Games in 2008. He is a professor at Villanova University, and an analytics consultant for Major League Soccer's Columbus Crew. Richmond Kickers is an American professional soccer club based in Richmond, Virginia. The Kickers compete as a member of USL League One (USL-1). The club was established in 1993, and began play that same year as a United States Interregional Soccer League (now USL League Two) expansion team, which at the time, was the fourth tier of soccer in the United States. The club's majority owner is 22 Holdings, LLC, and its minority owners are Richmond Kickers Youth Soccer Club and the Ukrop family, a prominent family from the Greater Richmond Region who founded the Ukrop's grocery chain. The Davidson Wildcats are the NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics teams representing Davidson College of Davidson, North Carolina, United States. Robert Ukrop
Rob Ukrop (born April 5, 1970 in Richmond, Virginia) is an American former soccer player who currently serves as Chairman of USL League One club Richmond Kickers. Ukrop, part of the Ukrop's Super Market family, grew up in Richmond where he attended Collegiate School where he starred with both the school's golf and soccer teams. When Ukrop graduated from high school in 1988, he had roster offers from Wake Forest and the University of Richmond. However, he chose to attend Davidson College. He was a member of the Sigma chapter of the Kappa Alpha Order. At the time, Davidson had no soccer pedigree, but Ukrop brought it into national prominence during his four and a half seasons there. Widespread Panic is an American rock band from Athens, Georgia. The current lineup includes guitarist/singer John Bell, bassist Dave Schools, drummer Duane Trucks, percussionist Domingo "Sunny" Ortiz, keyboardist John "JoJo" Hermann, and guitarist Jimmy Herring. David Allen Schools (born December 11, 1964) is a bass player and founding member of American rock band Widespread Panic. He is also a record producer, songwriter and journalist with articles published in a wide variety of music magazines. Schools lives in Sonoma County, California with his two dogs; when not on tour he likes to garden.
