College Hall (Fayette, Iowa)
Alexander-Dickman Hall, formerly known as Old Sem, Old Main, and College Hall, is a historic building located on the campus of Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa, United States. It was the first building built for the college, and for a number of years it was its only building. Construction on the building began in 1855 and it was completed two years later. Its significance derives, in part, from it being "one of the largest and best preserved native stone buildings still in use in Iowa." with Architecturally, the three-story limestone structure is influenced by several styles. Its simplicity of form reflects the Neoclassical style in its evenly spaced windows and arched doorway. The Palladian windows and the structure's tripartite arrangement capped by a triangular pediment of the main facade reflects the Federalist style. College Hall (Michigan State University)
College Hall was the first building erected on the campus of the Agricultural College of the State of Michigan (now Michigan State University), and the first in the United States to be erected "for the teaching of scientific agriculture." Reputedly designed by John C. Holmes, it was built in 1856 and housed the school's classrooms, offices and laboratories, the school's library/museum, and a multifunction lecture hall/chapel. Along with Saints' Rest, and a horse barn, it was one of three buildings completed when the college opened for classes in 1857. By the turn of the 20th century, College Hall had outlived its usefulness, and its future was in doubt. Because Michigan state government officials had taken the lowest construction bid possible, College Hall suffered from an extraordinary number of construction defects. The following is a list of Mississippi Landmarks officially nominated by the Mississippi Department of Archives and History and approved by each county's chancery clerk. The Mississippi Landmark designation is the highest form of recognition bestowed on properties by the state of Mississippi, and designated properties are protected from changes that may alter the property's historic character. Currently there are 890 designated landmarks in the state. College Hall (Rutgers University)
The Levi D. Jarrard House is a historic building located on the Douglass College campus of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. It was constructed in 1868 by an unknown architect, as a private residence for Levi D. Jarrard. Levi D Jarrard, was acting as Postmaster of New Brunswick from 1881-1883, but was previously employed as a New Jersey State Senator as well as the Middlesex County Collector. In 1883 he was found to have embezzled approximately $20,000, and had fled to Canada with the funds, leaving his family to struggle with payments on the house. The house was then purchased by John N. Carpender, who would later lease it to the New Jersey College for Women. This historical building is a well-preserved example of the large brownstone villas that populated New Brunswick during the late nineteenth century; one of the porches has since been enclosed, but the house remains otherwise unaltered. College Hall is the original academic building on La Salle University's campus. It is located at 1900 W. Olney Avenue in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. College Hall presently houses the Schools of Business and Business Administration, the Campus Ministry Center and the La Salle University Archives. Attached to the Christian Brother's Residence, it is on La Salle's main quadrangle. History Construction La Salle College, then located on Broad Street near the interaction with Stiles Street, purchased its present campus at 20th Street and Olney Avenue in 1926. Impressed with St. Joseph's College's new Barbelin Hall, La Salle contracted builder and alumnus John McShain to construct the buildings for its new campus.
