''Collectables by Ashanti'' is a remix compilation album by American R&B- pop singer Ashanti, released in 2005. It is the last Murder Inc. release to be distributed by Def Jam. Background The album, which consists of six remixes of past singles and four new tracks. The album had a parental advisory, but a "clean" version was also released. Commercial performance The album debuted and peaked at number 59 on the ''Billboard'' 200. The album also became Ashanti's fourth to reach the Top 10 on ''Billboards Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, peaking at number 10. "Still on It", the only single released from the album, was a commercial disappointment, peaking at number 55 on the Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart and failing to enter the Hot 100 altogether. Critical reception The album elicited a mixed reaction from music critics upon its release. AllMusic's Andy Kellman was skeptical of the album, noting that it looks "illegit". Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas (born October 13, 1980) is an American singer, songwriter and actress. She was first discovered as a teenager and later signed to Murder Inc. Records in 2002. That year, she was featured on Fat Joe's "What's Luv?" and Ja Rule's "Always on Time", both of which became two of the biggest hit songs of 2002. She became the first female artist to occupy the top two positions on the U.S. ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart simultaneously with " Foolish" and "What's Luv?" at numbers one and two, respectively. In 2002, Ashanti released her eponymous debut album, which sold over 505,000 copies throughout the U.S. in its first week of release. Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums is a music chart published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine that ranks R&B and hip hop albums based on sales in the United States and is compiled by Nielsen SoundScan. The chart debuted as Hot R&B LPs in the issue dated January 30, 1965 in an effort by the magazine to further expand into the field of rhythm and blues music. It then went through several name changes, being known as Soul LPs in the 1970s and Top Black Albums in the 1980s, before returning to the R&B identification in 1990 and affixing a hip hop designation in 1999 to reflect the latter's growing sales and relationship to R&B during the decade. Bruce Edward Washington Jr. (April 3, 1973July 10, 2015), better known by his stage name Hussein Fatal or sometimes as Fatal Hussein, was an American rapper, best known for his collaborative work with Tupac Shakur as a member of the rap group Outlaw Immortalz or just Outlawz. Early life Fatal was born Bruce Edward Washington Jr. on April 3, 1973. Career Washington first appeared as "Hussein Fatal" in February 1996 on the songs "All Bout U" and "When We Ride" from Shakur's album ''All Eyez on Me''. As a member of the Outlaw Immortalz, his name was chosen to evoke a villain, Iraqi president Saddam Hussein. In June 1996, he was featured on Shakur's song "Hit 'Em Up", insulting Shakur's rivals in the song's second verse. "Rain on Me" is a song by R&B singer Ashanti, released in August 2003 as a single from her second album '' Chapter II''. It contains a sample of " The Look of Love" by Isaac Hayes that was used on Snoop Dogg's song "G'z Up Hoes Down", a track that was removed from his debut album ''Doggystyle'' for sample clearance issues (and later cleared for the compilation album '' 15 Years on Death Row''). Ramel Leroy Gill, (born October 18, 1973) better known by his stage name Black Child, is an American rapper from New York City. He is best known for his time being signed to Irv Gotti's Murder Inc. Records and being affiliated with Irv Gotti, Ashanti, and Ja Rule. He appeared on hit singles with Ja Rule and did various songs with other members of Murder Inc. Early life Gill was born in Brooklyn, New York. His family moved to Queens when he was young. During his childhood years, one of family friends wrote verses for him at the age of 11.
