Colin Brooks (politician)
Colin William Brooks (born 9 January 1970) is an Australian politician. He has been a Labor Party member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly since 2006, representing the electorate of Bundoora. He is currently the Minister for Child Protection and Family Services and Minister for Disability, Ageing and Carers since June 2022, having previously served as the Speaker of the Victorian Legislative Assembly from March 2017 until his ministerial appointment. Early life Born in Sydney, he was educated at De La Salle College in Ashfield before receiving an electrical trades certificate from Petersham TAFE. He was an electrician from 1990 to 1996. Political career In 1996, Brooks became an electorate officer. From 1997 to 2005, he served on Banyule City Council, being mayor from 1998 to 1999 and 2001 to 2002. Colin Brooks (drummer)
Colin Brooks is a drummer from Little Rock, Arkansas, USA. He has played for numerous bands including Ho-hum, Trusty (band), Trusty, The Big Cats, and Samiam. Brooks also played drums on the Dan Zanes and Friends album ''Catch That Train!'', which won the 2007 Grammy Award for Best Musical Album for Children. He would go on to play drums live for Zanes. Brooks returns to Little Rock frequently to play with his rock band, The Big Cats, with his old friends Burt Taggart, Jason White (musician), Jason White and Josh Bentley. Brooks co-wrote the song "2nd Street" for White's band Pinhead Gunpowder, which appeared on the album ''Compulsive Disclosure''. Band Of Heathens
The Band of Heathens are an American rock and roll band from Austin, Texas. The band was originally formed by Colin Brooks, Ed Jurdi and Gordy Quist in 2005. History The three original principal songwriters - Colin Brooks, Ed Jurdi and Gordy Quist - shared the bill at Momo's, an Austin club. Originally, each singer/songwriter performed his own set. However, they eventually started sharing the stage, and collaborating with bassist Seth Whitney. The Wednesday night series was billed as "The Good Time Supper Club". A misprint in a local paper billed the act as "The Heathens." Drummer John Chipman joined the band in 2007, and Keyboardist Trevor Nealon, who played in the studio during the recording of both "One Foot in the Ether" and "Top Hat Crown & the Clapmaster's Son", joined the touring unit in 2011.
