Colegio Del Uruguay
The Colegio del Uruguay (nowadays the Colegio Superior del Uruguay «Justo José de Urquiza») is an Argentine educational institution, created by then Governor of Entre RÃos Justo José de Urquiza in the 28th of July of 1849. It was the first in the country to be secular and free. Nowadays, it serves circa 1200 students. It is located in the city of Concepción del Uruguay, in the Uruguay Department of the Province of Entre RÃos. It possesses a historic building dating from 1851. The college was sacked in 1870 during Jordán's rebellion. In 1942, it was declared a national historical monument. In 1999, for its 150th anniversary, the building was rebuilt and made into a museum, the College Historical Museum. The college is set subordinate administratively to the Autonomous University of Entre RÃos. Concepción del Uruguay is a city in Argentina. It is located in the Entre RÃos Province, Entre RÃos province, on the western shore of the Uruguay River, some 320 kilometers north from Buenos Aires. Its population is about 80,000 inhabitants (). History The city was founded on June 25, 1783, by Tomás de Rocamora. Rich in ancient monuments, it is sometimes referred to as ''La Histórica'' ("The Historical") due to is participation in the national formation process. Francisco Beiró (19 September 1876 – 22 July 1928) was an Argentine politician and lawyer, who was elected to Vice President of Argentina with Hipólito Yrigoyen as President, but died before taking office. Hortensio Quijano
Juan Hortensio Quijano (; June 10, 1884 – April 3, 1952) was the Vice President of Argentina under President Juan Perón from 1946 until his 1952 death in Buenos Aires. Quijano was born in Corrientes Province in 1884, and enrolled at the University of Buenos Aires, where he graduated in 1908 and received a '' juris doctor'' in 1919. He became a prominent Corrientes Province supporter of the leader of the reformist UCR, Hipólito Yrigoyen, at a time when local politics were dominated by the Autonomist and Liberal parties. His 1918 UCR candidacy for the Corrientes governorship was defeated, and he joined the legal department of the Banco de la Nación Argentina (the country's largest bank). Quijano broke with Yrigoyen's wing of the UCR and joined the opposition "Anti-Personalist" UCR.
