Coldünya
Coldünya (, ) is an Azerbaijani rock band based in Baku. The members are Teymur Nadir (vocals), Rovshan Karimov (vocals, guitar), Samir Jafaali (drums) and Aydin Hajiyev (bass guitar). The band got its name from the English word Cold and the Azerbaijani word ''Dünya'' (World). They are one of the better known and most prolific Azerbaijani bands of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. History In 1996, Coldünya recorded and released their first album, ''Nota Bene'', and filmed their first video, "Sehrbaz", which was broadcast and promoted by ANS Radio and ANS TV. Their song "Sehrbaz" was broadcast within two weeks in BBC Radio's Top of the Pops show, presented by Mark Goodier, and took 7th place in BBC's foreign hit-list. Alim Qasimov
Alim Hamza oghlu Qasimov ( az, Alim Həmzə oğlu Qasımov; born August 14, 1957) is an Azerbaijani musician and one of the foremost mugham singers in Azerbaijan. He was awarded the International Music Council-UNESCO Music Prize in 1999, one of the highest international accolades for music. His music is characterized by his vocal improvisation and represents a move away from the traditional style of mugham. Qasimov has recorded nine albums, three of which are mugham albums with his daughter, Farghana Qasimova. According to ''The New York Times'', "Qasimov is simply one of the greatest singers alive, with a searing spontaneity that conjures passion and devotion, contemplation and incantation." He joined fellow Azerbaijani Sabina Babayeva on stage at the Grand Finale of the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku to sing back vocals for her entry, " When the Music Dies." ANS TV (also known as ''ANS Independent Broadcasting Media Company'') was a news television channel in Azerbaijan, which was owned by ANS Group of Companies from its foundation on 26 November 1991 until its closure on 18 July 2016. Its name, ANS, stands for Azerbaijani News Service. History ANS was the first privately owned independent television company in the former Soviet Union. ''Top of the Pops'' (''TOTP'') is a British music chart television programme, made by the BBC and originally broadcast weekly between 1January 1964 and 30 July 2006. The programme was the world's longest-running weekly music show. For most of its history, it was broadcast on Thursday evenings on BBC One. Each show consisted of performances of some of the week's best-selling popular music records, usually excluding any tracks moving down the chart, including a rundown of that week's singles chart. This was originally the Top 20, though this varied throughout the show's history. The Top 30 was used from 1969, and the Top 40 from 1984. Mark Goodier
Mark Goodier (born 9 June 1961) is a British radio disc jockey best known for his time on BBC Radio 1 between 1987 and 2002. He had two spells presenting the station's Top 40 singles chart, from 1990 to 1992 and from 1995 until 2002. He also had a stint on ''Radio 1 Breakfast'' during 1993. He currently presents the mid-morning show between 10am and 1pm on Greatest Hits Radio. Goodier has also presented shows on BBC Radio 2, Classic FM, 102.2 Smooth Radio and Real Radio, and appeared on BBC television as a recurring presenter of ''Top of the Pops'' between 1988 and 1996.
