Coimbatore BRTS
The Coimbatore BRTS was a proposed bus rapid transit system for the Kovai metropolitan area under the JNNURM scheme. Project stretch of about 18.6 km starting at Avinashi Road and ending at Mettupalayam Road running through Dr.Rajendra Prasath Road. After Avinashi road, the project road turns left from Stanes School and passes along Dr.Nanjappa road and joins at Dr. Rajendra Prasad Road (100 Ft. Road). Avinashi road, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Road and Mettupalyam road are provided with the exclusive lane for buses termed BRTS lane and the connecting links are allowed to flow with the mixed traffic. A Dedicated Two Lane carriageway of width 7.0m is provided for BRTS corridor. A Dual Lane for Mixed Traffic of Width 7.0m is provided on either side of the BRTS corridor. Coimbatore, also spelt as Koyamputhur (), sometimes shortened as Kovai (), is one of the major metropolitan cities in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The Coimbatore Municipal Corporation is the civic body that governs the city of Coimbatore in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Bus rapid transit (BRT), also called a busway or transitway, is a bus-based public transport system designed to have much more capacity, reliability and other quality features than a conventional bus system. Coimbatore Bypass
The Coimbatore Bypass Road refers to a series of bypasses connecting the various National Highways and State Highways passing through and originating in the South Indian city of Coimbatore. The Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation is undertaking the construction of six rail-over-bridges in the city. In 2008, the State Highways Department came up with a proposal to create a Ring Road passing through Peelamedu Road, Kalapatti Road, Saravanampatty Road and Kurumbapalayam Road to help decongest Avanashi Road, Mettupalayam Road and Sathyamangalam Road.
