Cognita is a global private schools group which owns and operates schools throughout the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, Vietnam, Brazil, India and Chile. Geraint Jones (educator)
Geraint Paul Jones is a British educator. He is the founding executive director of the National School of Education and Teaching at ''Coventry University'', where he is also an associate pro-vice-chancellor and professor of education. In 2007 Jones won a national education award for pioneering a new school day structure at St. Edmund’s School – a state-maintained secondary school in Salisbury, Wiltshire. He also wrote Wake ’n Shake, a globally successful physical activity programme for school children now practised in over 20,000 schools worldwide. Jones gave the programme to schools free of charge. He was involved in implementing the education strategy for London’s successful bid to host the 2012 Olympic Games, and he represented UK schools at the announcement ceremony in Singapore. Chris Woodhead
Sir Christopher Anthony Woodhead (20 October 1946 – 23 June 2015) was a British educationalist. He was Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Schools in England from 1994 to 2000, and was one of the most controversial figures in debates on the direction of English education policy. He was Chairman of Cognita, a company dedicated to fostering private education, from 2004 to 2013. Early life Woodhead's father was an accountant, and his mother a school secretary; he was an only child. He went to Selsdon Primary School on Addington Road in South Croydon, then Wallington County Grammar School in Surrey. Charterhouse Square School
Charterhouse Square School is an independent, non-selective, co-educational day school with 250 children aged 3 to 11, situated in the Barbican area of the City of London. It occupies a five-story Victorian building overlooking Charterhouse Square near what used to be a Carthusian monastery. The school was founded by Jamie Malden in 1985 with 23 children. Charterhouse is a member of Cognita Schools, an association of independent schools in UK and overseas. Colchester High School is a coeducational independent school located in Colchester in Essex, England. The school is owned and operated by the Cognita Group. Colchester High is the only coeducational independent school in Colchester to offer secondary education. History The school was a girls' school when it opened in 1882. Quinton House School
Quinton House School is a co-educational independent school for children aged 2 to 18 years located in Upton, Northampton, England. The school is owned and operated by the Cognita Group. History Quinton House School is situated in the Grade I listed building, Upton Hall. The hall dates back to the medieval period with many alterations taking place in the sixteenth and seventeenth century. In 1946 the last private owner, Mr. James, died and the estate passed into the ownership of the Sir Thomas White's trust. William Vahey
William James Vahey (May 7, 1949 – March 21, 2014) was an American expatriate schoolteacher and convicted child molester. Biography Vahey was born in 1949 at West Point, New York, to a decorated World War II pilot father. He graduated from college in 1972. In January 1973, he moved to Iran, where he taught at Tehran American School until 1973, after which he taught at other schools in Lebanon, Spain, Greece, Saudi Arabia, and Venezuela. From 1992 to 2002, he taught at Jakarta International School in Indonesia. In 2009, he began teaching history and geography at Southbank International School in London. He continued to work there until 2013. In August 2013, he began teaching at the American Nicaraguan School in Managua and remained a teacher there until his death. Leatherhead
Leatherhead is a town in the Mole Valley District of Surrey, England, about south of Central London. The settlement grew up beside a ford on the River Mole, from which its name is thought to derive. During the late Anglo-Saxon period, Leatherhead was a royal vill and is first mentioned in the will of Alfred the Great in 880 AD.
