Coeymans, New York
Coeymans is a town in Albany County, New York, United States. The population was 7,256 in the 2020 census, a decline from 7,418 at the 2010 census. The town is named after an early settler, who was the patent-holder for the area. The town is in the southeastern part of the county, south of Albany. The Powell & Minnock Brick Yard, just north of the Hamlet on Rt. 144, was used as the assembly site for a new swing span for the 145th Street Bridge in 2006. The site was chosen because of a lack of space closer to the city. History Barent Pieteres Koijemans first arrived in 1639 from Holland. He became an apprentice at a mill owned by the Van Rensselaers. He purchased the land and obtained a patent in 1673. Coeymans was formed from part of the town of Watervliet in 1791. In 1815, part of the town was used to create the new town of Westerlo. 145th Street Bridge
The 145th Street Bridge is a four-lane swing bridge across the Harlem River in New York City, connecting 145th Street (Manhattan), 145th Street and Lenox Avenue in Manhattan with 149th Street and River Avenue in the Bronx. The bridge is operated and maintained by the New York City Department of Transportation. Construction on the original 145th Street Bridge began on April 19, 1901, and the $2.75 million bridge was opened to traffic on August 24, 1905. The designer was Alfred Pancoast Boller. It once carried northbound New York State Route 22 and New York State Route 100. This bridge was also once named the "Lenox Avenue Bridge", though that name has fallen into disuse. Hudson River

Cornelius and Agnietje Van Derzee House is a historic home and farm complex located at Coeymans in Albany County, New York. It was built about 1765 and is a rectangular two-story rubblestone dwelling with brick gables. The front facade is five bays with a Greek Revival style central entrance. A craftsman inspired porch was added in 1915. A two-story gable roof wing was added to the south elevation about 1890 and a large, two-story Greek Revival era wing is on the west. Ariaanje Coeymans House is a historic home located at Coeymans, New York, Coeymans in Albany County, New York. It was built in c.1690 and has a 2- to -story main block with a 1- to 2-story wing. It is constructed of stone and brick and has a gambrel roof. Ariaanje Coeymans (1672–1743) was the heiress of a 17th-century flour and saw milling fortune. Coeymans School
Coeymans School, also known as Acton Civill Polytechnic Institute, is a historic school building located at Coeymans in Albany County, New York. It was built in 1874 and is a rectangular brick building with a mansard roof with slate shingles. It is three stories tall, five bays wide and eleven bays deep. It features an unusual number of cast iron architectural details including the water table, quoins, window labels, balustrade, towers, and chimney. The building was originally built by Acton Civill (1804-1889) to house a polytechnic institute. In 1899, the local board of education purchased the building and used it for instructional purposes until 1963.
