Cody Morissette
Cody Hodsdon Morissette (born January 16, 2000) is an American professional baseball second baseman in the Miami Marlins organization. Early life and amateur career Morissette grew up in Exeter, New Hampshire, and attended Exeter High School, where he was an All-State selection in football, basketball and baseball. He was named the New Hampshire Division I Baseball Player of the Year as a junior and as a senior he was named New Hampshire's Mr. Basketball. Morissette had 99 career hits and compiled a 19–1 win–loss record with a 1.21 earned run average (ERA) as a pitcher over four seasons. Morissette played college baseball for the Boston College Eagles. He started all 58 of the Eagles' games as a second baseman during his freshman season in 2019 and finished the season with .320 batting average with 20 doubles, four home runs, 41 runs batted in (RBIs) and 27 runs scored. Home Run
In baseball, a home run (abbreviated HR) is scored when the ball is hit in such a way that the batter is able to circle the bases and reach home plate safely in one play without any errors being committed by the defensive team. A home run is usually achieved by hitting the ball over the outfield fence between the foul poles (or hitting either foul pole) without the ball touching the field. Far less common is the "inside-the-park" home run where the batter reaches home safely while the baseball is in play on the field. When a home run is scored, the batter is credited with a hit and a run scored, and a run batted in ( RBI) for each runner that scores, including himself. ''The Daily Item'' is a six-day (Monday through Saturday) morning daily newspaper published in Lynn, Massachusetts, United States. In addition to its home city, ''The Daily Item'' covers the Massachusetts North Shore cities and towns of Nahant, Saugus, Swampscott, Peabody, Revere, Lynnfield, Marblehead, and circulates in several adjacent towns. History The Item's history dates back to Horace N. Hastings, who, along with three of his four sons, first published the paper on Dec. 8, 1877. Their stated mission was to publish "a daily newspaper of the caliber to meet the needs of the people and to aid in the progress and prosperity of hegrowing city" of Lynn. Futures Collegiate Baseball League
The Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL) is an eight-team collegiate summer baseball league. It has four franchises in Massachusetts, two in Connecticut, and one each in New Hampshire and Vermont. Format The Futures League is a wood-bat league. Its regular season schedule calls for 68 games per team as of 2021 (34 home and 34 away games). FCBL ballplayers are unpaid collegiate athletes who join the league to gain experience and exposure to Major League Baseball scouts. The FCBL mission is to prepare young men for the rigors of playing professional baseball. Unique rules The league accepts players who were on college baseball rosters during the preceding spring season, as well as players who have signed a commitment to play college baseball in the upcoming school year. North Shore Navigators
The North Shore Navigators are a wooden-bat, collegiate summer baseball team based in Lynn, Massachusetts, playing in the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL). The team plays home games at Fraser Field in Lynn. The team is owned by Old School Sports Group, LLC. The Navigators are the successor to the Giants of the New England Collegiate Baseball League, a charter team in Middletown, Connecticut that moved to Holyoke, Massachusetts. The franchise relocated to Lynn for the 2008 season. They switched to the Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL) for the 2012 season and returned to the NECBL for the 2021 season.
