Codicote Football Club is a association football, football club based in Codicote, near Hitchin, Hertfordshire, England. They are currently members of the and play at the John Clements Memorial Ground. History The club was established in 1913 and joined the Eastern Division of the Hertfordshire Senior County League, Hertfordshire County League in the same year.Mike Williams & Tony Williams (2012) ''Non-League Club Directory 2013'', p767 They had only one season in the league before the outbreak of World War I, but returned to the Eastern Division when football resumed in 1919, finishing bottom of the division in the 1919–20 season. They were moved into the North & East Division when the league was reorganised in 1921, and finished bottom of the division for the next two seasons. In 1923 the league was reduced to a single division, with the club again finishing bottom in 1923–24. Codicote
Codicote is a large village, and civil parish about south of Hitchin in Hertfordshire, England. It has timber-framed and chequered brick houses, of special interest being the 18th-century Pond House and the half-timbered Taverners Place (formerly used as a Peking restaurant called "As You Like It", which was redeveloped in 2016 previously the George and Dragon Inn). Codicote Lodge is 18th-century and Codicote Bury 17th-century. The church, mostly rebuilt in 1853, retains 13th-century work in its nave and aisles. A most unusual structure north of the village is the Node Dairy and Stud, erected in 1927. It is circular in design, and thatched, with a circular courtyard and a tower which is, in fact, a silo.
