Coconino High School
Coconino High School (CHS) is a public secondary school located in Flagstaff, Arizona (US). It is part of the Flagstaff Unified School District and is one of the district's three high schools. Located at 2801 North Izabel Street, Coconino High School serves students in grades nine through twelve and currently enrolls 1,446 students as of 2012. The school's mascot is the panther. History The school first opened its doors in September 1967 to grades 10- 12. The school's namesake is the name of the county in which it is located, Coconino County. Coconino National Forest
The Coconino National Forest is a 1.856-million acre (751,000 ha) United States National Forest located in northern Arizona in the vicinity of Flagstaff. Originally established in 1898 as the "San Francisco Mountains National Forest Reserve", the area was designated a U.S. National Forest in 1908 when the San Francisco Mountains National Forest Reserve was merged with lands from other surrounding forest reserves to create the Coconino National Forest. Today, the Coconino National Forest contains diverse landscapes, including deserts, ponderosa pine forests, flatlands, mesas, alpine tundra, and ancient volcanic peaks. Coconino Plateau
The Coconino Plateau is found south of the Grand Canyon and north-northwest of Flagstaff, Arizona, Flagstaff, in northern Arizona of the Southwestern United States. Coconino Sandstone
Coconino Sandstone is a geologic formation named after its exposure in Coconino County, Arizona. This formation spreads across the Colorado Plateau province of the United States, including northern Arizona, northwest Colorado, Nevada, and Utah. This rock formation is particularly prominent in the Grand Canyon, where it is visible as a prominent white cliff-forming layer. The thickness of the formation varies due to regional structural features; in the Grand Canyon area it is only thick in the west, thickens to over in the middle and then thins to in the east. Either the Kaibab Limestone or Toroweap Formation overlies the Coconino Sandstone. The Coconino Sandstone is typically buff to white in color.
