Coast Valley League
The Coast Valley League is a high school athletic conference that is affiliated with the CIF Southern Section (CIF-SS). As of the 2020–21 school year, members are small schools located in San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Kern counties. The league sponsors eight-man football. High School
A secondary school describes an institution that provides secondary education and also usually includes the building where this takes place. Athletic Conference
An athletic conference is a collection of sports teams, playing competitively against each other in a sports league. In many cases conferences are subdivided into smaller divisions, with the best teams competing at successively higher levels. Conferences often, but not always, include teams from a common geographic region. Australian rules football The AFL Women's competition used a non-geographic conference system in 2019 and 2020. The league was divided into two conferences, based on ladder position in the previous season. Not every team could play each other due to the limited number of rounds, so conferences were introduced so that teams were only measured against the teams they played. The system was controversial because it allowed some weak teams to make finals, and strong teams from the other conference missed out on finals. CIF Southern Section
The California Interscholastic Federation-Southern Section (CIF-SS) is the governing body for high school athletics in most of Southern California and is the largest of the ten sections that comprise the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF). Its membership includes most public and private high schools in Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, Ventura, and central and southern Santa Barbara counties. At the start of the 2018/9 season, 13 schools from San Luis Obispo County and northern Santa Barbara County left the Southern Section to join the much smaller CIF Central Section. Eight-man Football
Eight-man football is a form of gridiron football, generally played by high schools with smaller enrollments. Eight-man football differs from the traditional 11-man game with the reduction of three players on each side of the ball and a field width that can be reduced to 40 yards, 13 1/3 yards narrower than the 53 1/3-yard 11-man field. Most states continue to play on a field 100 yards long, whereas a few states opt for 80-yard lengths. Reduced-player football, which consists of eight-man, six-man, and nine-man football has gained popularity across the United States. Coastal Christian School (California)
Coastal Christian School is a private, non-denominational Christian school from Kindergarten through 12th grade. The school's new permanent campus is in the Oak Park area of Pismo Beach, California. History Coastal Christian School was originally incorporated in 1971 as Central Coast Christian Academy on the site of the First Presbyterian Church of Arroyo Grande. It was started by parents interested in providing Christian education and was established as a missionary outreach of the church. In September 1971, the school opened with four teachers and an enrollment of 39 students in grades K-6. In January of the same year, junior-high classes were added.
