Coal Creek Township took its name from Coal Creek, which was so named from the deposits of coal in its hillsides. Geography According to the 2010 census, the township has a total area of , all land. Wingate, Indiana
Wingate, formerly known as Pleasant Hill, is a town in Coal Creek Township, Montgomery County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. The population was 263 at the 2010 census. History Wingate was platted, (as Pleasant Hill), by Christian Bever in 1832. Citizens renamed the town in honor of prominent townsperson, John C. Wingate. Sports heritage Signage on the north and south ends of town (shown right) along Indiana State Road 25 boast that, following the first Indiana State Basketball Championships that were held in 1911, the Wingate team was the first to win back-to-back championships in 1913 and 1914. Cain Township, Fountain County, Indiana
Cain Township is one of eleven townships in Fountain County, Indiana. As of the 2010 census, its population was 1,142 and it contained 488 housing units. History Cain Township was one of the first townships to be established in the county; it was established on July 24, 1826. At that time, much of the land was forested, but 100 years later most of the land was used for agriculture. There were also several grain and lumber mills along Coal Creek, but these also were gone by the early 20th century. The town of Hillsboro was laid out in the 1830s and still exists; the town of Rynear was established in the far northwest corner of the township, but was gone by the early 1900s. From 2003 to 2013 the district was based primarily in the central part of the state, and consisted of all of Boone, Clinton, Hendricks, Morgan, Lawrence, Montgomery, and Tippecanoe counties and parts of Fountain, Johnson, Marion, Monroe, and White counties.
