Coa Halt
The Coa halt (name Portuguese Language Orthographic Agreement of 1990, previously spelled as Côa, changed after the halt's closure), is a closed interface of the Douro line, which used to serve the town of Vila Nova de Foz Côa, in the Guarda District, in Portugal. The halt started operating on 5 May 1887, and was closed in 2 October 1988. Description Location and access This station is located in the municipality of Vila Nova de Foz Côa, about 3.5 km from the town center, via the Coa road. Physical characterization The passenger building is located on the west side of the track (right-hand side of the uphill direction, towards Barca d'Alva railway station, Barca d'Alva). This and the other remaining infrastructures are abandoned and in a poor state of repair with the roof of the halt having collapsed likely in the last years of the 1990s. Pocinho Railway Station
Pocinho is a village in northern Portugal, located in the Vila Nova de Foz Côa Municipality. The Pocinho Dam and the River Douro are nearby. Pocinho railway station is the eastern terminus of the Douro railway line; the community developed with the arrival of the railway in 1887. The railway formerly continued eastwards into Spain, but closed in 1988. The Sabor line, a narrow gauge railway, formerly ran north-east from Pocinho over 100 km to Duas Igrejas (near Miranda do Douro). The Sabor line closed in 1988. The Portuguese journalist, novelist and politician Francisco José Viegas was born in Pocinho on 14 March 1962. References

Idanha-a-Nova
Idanha-a-Nova () is a town and surrounding municipality in the district of Castelo Branco, in east-central Portugal. A border municipality with Spain, the population of the municipality in 2011 was 9,716, in an area of 1416.34 km2, making it one of the largest and least densely populated municipalities in Portugal as well as the first Portuguese municipality by population ageing. King Alfonso II (1211-1223) confirmed its charter in 1219 renaming the village with the current place names (Idanha-a-Nova) to distinguish it from the old Idanha (hereinafter Idanha-a-Velha), 18 kilometers away. The Barca d'Alva–La Fuente de San Esteban railway is a closed Iberian gauge line which connected on the Linha do Douro, in northeastern Portugal, to the Spanish railway network. Linha Do Norte
Linha do Norte is the Portuguese main railway line that connects the two main Portuguese cities, Lisbon and Porto. Its length is . It goes through some other important cities like Vila Franca de Xira, Santarém, Entroncamento, Pombal, Coimbra, Aveiro, Espinho & Vila Nova de Gaia, amongst others. It constitutes the backbone of the Portuguese railway system of freight and passenger services, running approximately 720 trains (both freight and passenger) daily. As part of the plans for a high-speed rail network, there will be a parallel high-speed line (up to ) to relieve this main line, since it has reached a saturation threshold where it's impossible to add additional freight trains without jamming the fast passenger services ( InterCidades and Alfa Pendular). Maria Pia Bridge
The Maria Pia Bridge (in Portuguese ''Ponte de D. Maria Pia'', commonly known as ''Ponte de Dona Maria Pia'') is a railway bridge built in 1877, and attributed to Gustave Eiffel, situated over the Portuguese northern municipalities of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia. Part of the Linha Norte system of the national railway, the wrought iron, double-hinged, crescent arch spans , over the Douro River.
