Perlis, ( Northern Malay: ''Peghelih''), also known by its honorific title Perlis Indera Kayangan, is the smallest state in Malaysia by area and population. Molecular phylogenies suggest that the two regional groupings may form distinct clades which are not each other's closest relatives.
