Clément Bayiha
Clément Yvan Landry Bayiha (born March 8, 1999) is a soccer player who plays for York United of the Canadian Premier League. Born in Cameroon, he represented Canada at youth international level. Early life Born in Cameroon, he moved to Guipry, France at the age of five with his family. He began playing youth soccer in France at age eight with US Bain de Bretagne. At age 11, he moved to Ste-Thérèse, Quebec in Canada with his family. In Canada, he played youth soccer with AS Blainville, before joining the Montreal Impact Academy in 2016. In 2018, he attended pre-season training camp with the Montreal Impact first team. Club career In July 2018, he signed a contract with Ottawa Fury FC in the USL for the remainder of the season, immediately being sent on a short-term loan for a few days to the Montreal Impact. Homegrown Player Rule (MLS)
The Homegrown Player Rule is a Major League Soccer program that allows MLS teams to sign local players from their own development academies directly to MLS first team rosters. Before the creation of the rule in 2008, every player entering Major League Soccer would have to be assigned through one of the existing MLS player allocation processes, such as the MLS SuperDraft. MLS roster rules allow a team to sign players to contracts similar to Generation adidas contracts, which do not count against the MLS salary budget and may earn a much higher salary than the league minimum. MLS has since removed this wording from the roster rules. That means homegrown players will not count against the salary budget only if they are registered using supplemental roster slots, but will still count against the salary budget if they are registered using senior roster slots. 2018 CONCACAF U-20 Championship
The 2018 CONCACAF Under-20 Championship was the 6th edition of the CONCACAF Under-20 Championship (27th edition if all eras included), the men's under-20 international football tournament organized by CONCACAF. It was hosted at Bradenton, Florida, United States between 1–21 November 2018. A new format was announced, removing the regional Central American and Caribbean qualifiers and guaranteeing each entrant a minimum of four competitive games. The competition would determine the four CONCACAF representatives at the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland, The United States, Mexico, Panama and Honduras qualified. The football tournament at the 2017 Jeux de la Francophonie took place from 21 to 30 July in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. The organization of the football competition has been considered to be a fiasco by some participating countries. The tournament was supposed to follow the FIFA tiebreaker rules. However, the organizing committee decided to change the rules in the midst of the competition in favour of Ivory Coast, thus eliminating Guinea from the group stage. Due to these changes, D.R. Congo also qualified for the semifinals instead of Quebec. Also in the semifinals, Mali delegation protested the referee's call of a frivolous penalty that won the game for the hosts Ivory Coast.
