Clyde Williams (Missouri Politician)
Clyde Williams (October 13, 1873 – November 12, 1954) was a U.S. Representative from Missouri. Born on a farm near Grubville, Missouri, Williams attended the county schools, De Soto High School, and the State normal school at Cape Girardeau. He was graduated from the law department of the University of Missouri in 1901. He was admitted to the bar the same year and commenced practice in De Soto, Missouri. He served as prosecuting attorney of Jefferson County in 1902–1908. Williams was elected as a Democrat to the Seventieth Congress (March 4, 1927 – March 3, 1929). He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1928 to the Seventy-first Congress. He resumed the practice of law. Williams was elected to the Seventy-second and to the five succeeding Congresses (March 4, 1931 – January 3, 1943). Charles Edward Kiefner
Charles Edward Kiefner (November 25, 1869 – December 13, 1942) was a U.S. Representative from Missouri's 13th congressional district. Born in Perryville, Missouri to German immigrants, Kiefner attended the public school system. He engaged in the retail lumber business and also in road construction. Kiefner served as Mayor of Perryville from 1900 to 1902 and was a member of the Missouri House of Representatives from 1902 to 1908. He served as delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1912 and served on the staff of Governor Arthur M. Hyde from 1920 to 1924. Kiefner was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-ninth Congress (March 4, 1925 – March 3, 1927). He was an unsuccessful candidate for re-election in 1926 to the Seventieth Congress. Hillsboro, Missouri
Hillsboro is a city in Jefferson County, Missouri, United States. The population was 3,473 at the 2020 census, up from 2,821 in 2010. Hillsboro is the county seat of Jefferson County. History Hillsboro was originally called Monticello, and under the latter name was platted in 1839, and named after Monticello, home of President Thomas Jefferson. The name Monticello was afterwards changed because the U.S. postal authorities refused to accept that name, there being another post office in the state with a similar name. The present name Hillsboro is the English equivalent of the Italian name Monticello. A post office has been in operation at Hillsboro since 1838. The Thomas C.
