Club 7
Club 7 was a cultural club in Oslo, Norway, active from 1963 to 1985. It was regarded a centre for counterculture in Norway in the 1960s through the 1970s. There was a wide tolerance for alternative lifestyles, including homosexuality. History Club 7 was established in 1963 by Attila Horvath and Odd Schou. The first meeting took place at Kafé René at Lilletorget, Oslo. Among the pioneers was also poet Kate Næss, who is credited for inventing the name of the club. The name "Club 7" is supposed to mean the club should be "more than sex" (the number 6 in Norwegian is pronounced like "sex"). The avant-garde theatre Stage 7 ( no, Scene 7) was started in 1966, with Sossen Krohg as artistical director. Other club activities were jazz concerts, poetry evenings, rock concerts, exhibitions, café and activities for children. Sossen Krohg
Sossen Krohg (born Sossen Anker Olsen; 18 December 1923 – 12 February 2016) was a Norwegian playwright and stage and film actress. Personal life She was born in Kristiania (now Oslo), Norway. She was the daughter of newspaper editor Kristoffer Anker Olsen and Ingeborg Cappelen Hille Finne. She was married to ski jumper Thorleif Schjelderup (1920–2006) from 1943 to 1947 and to painter Guy Krohg (1917–2002) from 1949. Career Sossen Krohg graduated from the Det Norske Teatret school of theater in 1946 and made her stage debut in the play ''Kranes konditori'' which was based on the novel from 1945 by Norwegian author Cora Sandel (1880–1974). She was appointed at Det Norske Teatret from 1948 to 1952, and at Folketeatret from 1952 to 1960. She made her film debut in ''Døden er et kjærtegn'' from 1949 directed by Edith Carlmar (1911–2003). Oslo Concert Hall (''Oslo Konserthus'') is a concert hall located in Vika, Oslo, Vika, a part of Oslo city centre in Norway. Fredrik Fasting Torgersen
Fredrik Ludvig Fasting Torgersen (1 October 1934 – 18 June 2015) was a Norwegian man who was convicted of murder in 1958 in a much-debated case, and released from prison in 1974. Serving 16 years in prison before being released, he continuously claimed his innocence. In 2013 Bjørg Njaa, a daughter of a judge in the 1958 trial said that her father was prejudiced against Torgersen even before being assigned to the trial. In 2014 he was denied access to official recordings of then leader of the Norwegian Board of Forensic Medicine, Bjørnar Olaisen, answering to Criminal Cases Review Commission. Torgersen died on 18 June 2015, a week after his sixth call for a resumption of his case. At the time of his death, he was hospitalized with cancer. Jens Bjørneboe
Jens Ingvald Bjørneboe (9 October 1920 – 9 May 1976) was a Norwegian writer whose work spanned a number of literary formats. He was also a painter and a Waldorf school teacher. Bjørneboe was a harsh and eloquent critic of Norwegian society and Western civilization as a whole. He led a turbulent life and his uncompromising opinions cost him both an obscenity conviction as well as long periods of heavy drinking and bouts of depression, which in the end led to his suicide. Jens Bjørneboe's first published work was ''Poems'' (''Dikt'') in 1951. He is widely considered to be one of Norway's most important post-war authors. Bjørneboe identified himself, among other self-definitions, as an anarcho-nihilist. Gerd Mjøen Brantenberg (born October 27, 1941) is a Norwegian author, teacher, and feminist writer. Biography Brantenberg was born in Oslo, but grew up in Fredrikstad. She studied English, History, and Sociology in London, Edinburgh, and Oslo. She has an English hovedfag (main subject, comparable to a Master), from the University of Oslo, where she also studied history and political science. She worked as a lector in Norwegian and Danish high schools, and she also held positions at the trade union for lectors (Norsk Lektorlag) and the Norwegian Authors' Union. She worked from 1972 to 1983 in the Women's House in Oslo.
