Clownery (film)
''Clownery'' (russian: КлоунАда, Transliteration, translit. ''Klounada'') is a black-and-white and colour 1989 cinema of the Soviet Union, Soviet independent film directed by Dmitrii Frolov. It is based on Daniil Kharms novel ''Situations''. Plot Various works of Daniil Kharms are connected by means of a character dressed in a sailor's pea coat, which roams from the "case" to the "occasion", getting into various stories and leaving unscathed from the most incredible situations. The character is a nice embodiment of the revolutionary sailor in reserve, what was filled with Russian society in the early 30-ies. He is quite a good-natured "lumpen", not devoid of features of his class: impudence, self-will and unceremoniousness. Dmitrii Frolov
Dmitri Alexeyevich Frolov (russian: Дмитрий Алексеевич Фролов; born February 27, 1966) is a Russian film director in independent experimental cinema and a director of photography. Biography Frolov was born in Leningrad on February 27, 1966. In 1990, he graduated from the University of Cinema and Television. A screenwriter, director and cameraman, Frolov took part in more than 30 short films. He was included in several domestic film festivals – including Kinoshok in Anapa, Pure Dreams in St. Petersburg, and Cine Phantom Fest in Moscow – and foreign ones. He also shot music videos for the group Auktsion, and worked as the senior operator of the TV channel 100TV. He makes aesthetic experiments connecting with return to silent cinema on new level of film language.
