Cloverleaf Mall
Stonebridge Shopping Center, formerly Cloverleaf Mall, is a shopping mall located in Chesterfield County, Virginia on U.S. Route 60 just west of State Route 150. The mall opened in 1972 and featured two anchor stores, J. C. Penney, and Sears. A third anchor, Thalhimers, opened a year later. However, the surrounding neighborhoods began to undergo a socioeconomic crisis and developments were occurring away from the mall. This led to a decline, especially in the 1990s and 2000s when businesses left for nearby Chesterfield Towne Center. The mall was eventually closed in 2008 and was ultimately demolished in 2011 to make way for a mixed-use development featuring a Kroger Marketplace. Chesterfield is an unincorporated community that is the county seat of Chesterfield County, Virginia, United States. It was a census-designated place (CDP) at the 2020 census. State Route 150 (SR 150) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Virginia. Known as Chippenham Parkway, the state highway runs from Interstate 95 (I-95) and SR 895 in Bensley north to Parham Road and River Road near Tuckahoe in Henrico County. SR 150 is a four- to six-lane circumferential highway that connects the Chesterfield County suburbs of Richmond with western Henrico County and, via SR 895, eastern Henrico County and Richmond International Airport. Thalhimers was a department store in the Southern United States. Based in Richmond, Virginia, the venerable chain at its peak operated dozens of stores in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and one store in Memphis, Tennessee. Thalhimer's traditions were most notable during the holiday season with visits from the sticker-distributing Snow Bear and, in later years, the arrival of Lego Land at the downtown Richmond store. Chesterfield Towne Center is an enclosed shopping mall located in the Richmond, Virginia metropolitan area in unincorporated Chesterfield County, Virginia. It opened in 1975 and features five anchor stores: At Home, JCPenney, Macy's, and a combination TJ Maxx/HomeGoods, with one vacant anchor last occupied by Sears. History Chesterfield Mall, as the center was originally known, opened in 1975. Its sole anchor was Miller & Rhoads.
