''Closer'' (sometimes known simply as ''Tunnels 4'') is the fourth book in the ''Tunnels'' series, written by Roderick Gordon and Brian Williams. Released in the United Kingdom by Chicken House on 3 May 2010, its publication in the United States by Scholastic Inc. followed on 1 February 2011. Plot summary Part 1: Revelations In the world with its own sun in the center of the Earth, the Rebecca twins dive into a pool in order to escape an explosion set off by Will and Elliott in Freefall, and eventually are able to survive by breathing air they find trapped in the roof of a mine shaft that, after being flooded, formed the pool they were camped at. Rebecca Two tends to her twin sister`s bullet wound inflicted by Will during the ambush. Roderick Gordon
Roderick Gordon (born November 1960) is the author of ''Tunnels'', a bestselling children's book and the first book in the ''Tunnels'' series by Roderick Gordon and Brian Williams. Biography Born in November 1960, Roderick grew up in Highgate, North London. Chronically shy throughout his childhood, he sought refuge in drawing and writing, and whilst at the Hall School, Hampstead, he had his first short story published in the school magazine, at the age of twelve. He went on to public school at Oundle, and then attended University College, London, where he read biology (specializing in genetics). It was here that he met his future collaborator on the ''Tunnels'' series of books, Brian Williams, who was at the Slade School of Fine Art. Stuka
The Junkers Ju 87 or Stuka (from ''Sturzkampfflugzeug'', "dive bomber") was a German dive bomber and ground-attack aircraft. Designed by Hermann Pohlmann, it first flew in 1935. It was initially self-published as The Highfield Mole in 2005, and re-released as ''Tunnels'' by The Chicken House in 2007.
