Clogh, County Antrim
Clogh, also spelt as Clough (), is a small village in County Antrim, Northern Ireland, 9 miles from Ballymena. It is situated within the Glenravel ward of the Braid electoral area of Mid and East Antrim District Council. It had a population of 220 people (90 households) in the 2011 Census. (2001 Census: 105 people) Dunaghy Old Rectory, on the main street, is one of the village's most striking buildings. There are three churches in the vicinity. St. James Dunaghy Parish Church of Ireland is situated at the fork junction at the bottom of the main street. The Gospel Hall is located on main street. While the large Presbyterian Church is situated just outside the village. The village's community centre is housed in a building that was originally Clough Baptist Church at the top of the Main Street. The Church closed in the early 1990s, the building was not reopened as the community centre until 2005. It has since host numerous functions and is widely used by the whole community. S ... Clogh () is a small rural village in Ireland. Many local residents refer to the village as "Clough", and this is regarded as the proper spelling. It is situated on the R772 regional road in County Wexford southwest of Gorey. Until it was bypassed in July 2007 the village was situated on the N11 national primary route from Wexford Town to Dublin. There is a memorial to the Battle of Tubberneering in the village. Clogh ( ga, An Chloch) is a village, and namesake of an electoral district in County Kilkenny, Ireland. It is also a townland in the civil parish of Castlecomer in the ancient barony of Fassadinin. Clogh is situated on the R426 road near Castlecomer. History In 1837 it lay along the road from Castlecomer on the road to Athy. It containing 116 houses( mostly thatched) and 582 inhabitants. Most people were employed in the neighbouring collieries. It had a constabulary police station. In 1837, the ''district of Clogh'' comprised parts of the parishes of Castlecomer and Rathaspeck. The Roman Catholic chapel for the district was in Clogh. The village takes its name from the Irish ''An Chloc'' which means "stone" or "stone building". The original townsland name was Magleitid (Broad plain). History tells of a castle sited in the "Castle field" in the townland of Coultha; this may be where Clogh derived its name.
