Clive Hornby
Clive William Hornby (20 October 1944 – 3 July 2008) was an English actor, best known for his role as Jack Sugden in the ITV soap opera ''Emmerdale''. He first appeared in the programme (then named ''Emmerdale Farm'') in 1980, and remained in the role for 28 years. Career Television Hornby appeared in various television productions including the Royal Air Force National Service sitcom ''Get Some In!'', Gerry Anderson's '' Space: 1999'' and ''Minder'' alongside George Cole. Music During the 1960s, Hornby was a drummer with The Dennisons. Patricia Ruth "Pat" Sugden (also Harker and Merrick) is a fictional character from the British soap opera ''Emmerdale'', played by actresses Lynn Dalby and Helen Weir. Development Pat is characterised as a "passionate and strong minded" female. Pat easily settles into farm life and contributes by taking over control of Sam Pearson's (Toke Townley) vegetable garden. Writers developed a marriage between Pat and Jack Sugden (Clive Hornby). The Dennisons
The Dennisons were an English Merseybeat band, that emerged from the Liverpool scene in the early 1960s. Despite their background, and a couple of minor hit singles, they failed to achieve more than a local following and were unable to find a footing on the British Invasion. However, in 1963, Bob Wooler stated that "The Dennisons have created the biggest impact in Liverpool since the Beatles." The band's drummer, Clive Hornby, later became the actor best known for portraying Jack Sugden in British soap opera ''Emmerdale''. Career The Dennisons were formed in July 1961, at Liverpool Collegiate, and took their name from a Liverpool street. They were inspired by another early Merseybeat band The Ravens, who later became Faron's Flamingos.
