Clipsal is an Australian brand of electrical accessories. Their primary factory, once located at Bowden, moved to Gepps Cross, South Australia. Smaller factories in South Australia at Nuriootpa, Strathalbyn, Wingfield, Bayswater and in Victoria have closed and production has moved to Gepps Cross and to offshore locations. From 2000 to 2017, Clipsal was the naming rights sponsor for the Adelaide 500 Supercars race. Since 2004 Clipsal Australia has been a subsidiary of Schneider Electric. History Clipsal was established by A. E. Gerard in Adelaide, Australia in 1920. Clipsal began by selling a range of adjustable sheet metal fittings which joined the various imported conduits of differing diameters found in Australia at the time. These products helped give the company its name, the phrase "clips all" being abridged to ''Clipsal''. Adelaide 500
The Adelaide 500 (also known as the VALO Adelaide 500 for sponsorship reasons) is an annual motor racing event for Supercars held on the streets of the east end of Adelaide, South Australia between 1999 to 2020 and again from 2022. It is sometimes known by its previous sponsored name of the Clipsal 500. The event uses a shortened form of the Adelaide Street Circuit, the former Australian Grand Prix track. It generally took place in February and March, contributing to what locals term "mad March", along with the Adelaide Festival, Adelaide Fringe, WOMADelaide and Adelaide Writers' Week. In October 2020, it was announced the South Australian Tourism Commission would withdraw support for the event, putting the event on hiatus. C-Bus is a communications protocol based on a seven layer OSI model for home and building automation that can handle cable lengths up to 1000 metres using Cat-5 cable. It is used in Australia, New Zealand, Asia, the Middle East, Russia, United States, South Africa, the UK and other parts of Europe including Greece and Romania. C-Bus was created by Clipsal Australia's ''Clipsal Integrated Systems'' division (now part of Schneider Electric) for use with its brand of home automation and building lighting control system. Clipsal C-Bus
C-Bus is a home-automation product range from the Clipsal brand owned by Schneider Electric. Since 1994 it has grown to include approximately 400 products. It is primarily used as a Lighting control system but also supports other automation functions such as irrigation and security. Information The initial products were labelled as 'C-Bus'. The branding became 'C-Bus 2' in 2001 with the introduction of a feature called Learn Mode, however products of either branding are compatible and can be used together. C-Bus products communicate using an open protocol of the same name, relayed via a pink cable that carries both power and data. Some products require an additional mains supply. A single bus segment, referred to as a 'C-Bus network', can address 255 individual devices. Clipsal Site Development
The Bowden development is an urban development in the Australian state of South Australia on a site formerly owned by the Clipsal corporation in the suburb of Bowden, within the City of Charles Sturt, in the Adelaide metropolitan area 2 kilometres from the city centre. The site covers an area of and is bounded by Park Terrace to the south, the Outer Harbor railway line to the west, Drayton Street to the north and Sixth and Seventh Streets to the east. The Government also acquired the adjoining 5.9-hectare site which had been owned by Origin Energy (known as the Brompton Gasworks site). Currently the overall Bowden development site is 16.3 hectares. The development is expected to be completed by 2020 to 2025. The development is expected to increase the population of Bowden, which was 648 in the 2006 census, to 3,500. Bowden () is an inner northern suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. It is located in the City of Charles Sturt. History The 'Village of Bowden' was established in 1839 by James Hurtle Fisher, who named it after his native village in Northamptonshire. Bowden had a post office open from 1970 until 1991. Before 1970 the office in the area was named ''Ovingham''; after 1991 the ''Brompton'' office has provided postal services.
