Clinton Prairie Junior-Senior High School is a middle school and high school located in Frankfort, Indiana. Athletics Women's Basketball In 1999, the Clinton Prairie women's basketball team defeated New Washington to claim the Women's Basketball Class A Indiana State championship. The victory would be the first women's basketball championship for the school. Frankfort, Indiana
Frankfort is a city in Clinton County, Indiana, United States. The population was 16,422 at the 2010 census. The city is the county seat of Clinton County. History Brothers John, William and Nicholas Pence, previously of Warren County, Ohio, settled on the land on which Frankfort now stands in 1829, having entered it from the government in 1827 and 1828. In 1830, the brothers donated of the land to the county commissioners, a donation which led to the establishment of the county seat at that site rather than in Jefferson, a community which had also been vying for the honor. The new town was named Frankfort at the brothers' request and honors their German great-grandparents' home of Frankfurt am Main. The town of Frankfort was laid off on the tract by William Douglass, the county agent, and the plat filed on June 8, 1830. Clinton County is a county located in the U.S. state of Indiana. As of 2010, the population was 33,224. The county seat is Frankfort. History Clinton County officially came into existence on March 1, 1830, and was named in honor of DeWitt Clinton, the sixth Governor of New York State and architect of the Erie Canal, which opened up the Upper Midwest to settlement. The Hoosier Heartland Conference is an IHSAA-Sanctioned Athletic Conference in North Central Indiana. It comprises mainly single A and smaller AA schools.
