Clinton Dugald MacDougall
Clinton Dugald MacDougall (June 14, 1839 – May 24, 1914) was a United States representative from New York. Life and career Born near Glasgow, Scotland, he immigrated to Canada in 1842 with his parents, who later settled in Auburn, New York. He pursued an academic course, studied law, and engaged in banking from 1856 to 1869. He was commissioned captain in the 75th New York Volunteer Infantry on September 16, 1861; lieutenant colonel of the 111th New York Volunteer Infantry Regiment, August 20, 1862; colonel January 3, 1863; and brevet brigadier general of Volunteers February 25, 1865. He was honorably mustered out on June 4, 1865. In 1869 he was appointed postmaster of Auburn. MacDougall was elected as a Republican to the Forty-third and Forty-fourth Congresses, holding office from March 4, 1873 to March 3, 1877. Colonel (United States)
The colonel () in the United States Army, Marine Corps, Air Force and Space Force, is the most senior field-grade military officer rank, immediately above the rank of lieutenant colonel and just below the rank of brigadier general. Colonel is equivalent to the naval rank of captain in the other uniformed services. By law, an officer previously required at least 22 years of cumulative service and a minimum of three years as a lieutenant colonel before being promoted to colonel. The United States District Court for the Northern District of New York (in case citations, N.D.N.Y.) serves one of the 94 judicial districts in the United States and one of four in the state of New York. Harriet Tubman
Harriet Tubman (born Araminta Ross, March 10, 1913) was an American abolitionist and social activist. Born into slavery, Tubman escaped and subsequently made some 13 missions to rescue approximately 70 slaves, including family and friends, using the network of antislavery activists and safe houses known as the Underground Railroad. During the American Civil War, she served as an armed scout and spy for the Union Army. In her later years, Tubman was an activist in the movement for women's suffrage. Born enslaved in Dorchester County, Maryland, Tubman was beaten and whipped by her various masters as a child. Early in life, she suffered a traumatic head wound when an irate overseer threw a heavy metal weight intending to hit another slave, but hit her instead. Gerry Whiting Hazelton
Gerry Whiting Hazelton (February 24, 1829 – September 29, 1920) was an American lawyer and Republican politician. He represented Wisconsin's 2nd congressional district in the 42nd and 43rd Congresses. He also served nine years as United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, and two years as a member of the Wisconsin State Senate, representing Columbia County. New York's 26th Congressional District
The 26th congressional district of New York is a congressional district for the United States House of Representatives in Western New York. It includes parts of Erie and Niagara counties. The district includes the cities of Buffalo, Lackawanna, Niagara Falls, Tonawanda, and North Tonawanda. The office of representative for this district became vacant on February 9, 2011, following the resignation of Republican Chris Lee. New York's 25th Congressional District
The 25th congressional district of New York is a congressional district for the United States House of Representatives. It is currently represented by Democrat Joseph Morelle. The district is now located within Monroe County and part of Orleans County, centered on the city of Rochester. Since 2013, the 25th district has been located entirely within Monroe County, and includes the City of Rochester and surrounding suburbs. In the 2018 race, the seat was vacant.
