Clinton Davis (born August 17, 1965) is a former American track athlete. He was an outstanding sprinter while at Steel Valley High School. Davis was recruited by UCLA, but after an exceptional high school career chose to turn pro early. Roy Martin (sprinter)
Roy Chester Martin Jr. (born December 25, 1966) is a former American sprinter. He is considered one of the greatest high school sprinters in American history, and at the height of his career, he competed for the United States at the 1988 Summer Olympics. As a high school senior in 1985, Martin set the National High School Record for 200 meters with a time of 20.13 seconds at the 1985 UIL Track and Field Championships in Austin. That same year, he also recorded the fastest prep time in the nation for 100 meters at 10.18 seconds and anchored his high school's 4×100 meter and 4×400 meter relay teams to marks (40.28 in the 4×100 and 3:09.4 in the 4×400) that are among the fastest ever recorded in high school competition. Martin was named Male Prep Athlete of the Year by Track & Field News in 1984 and in 1985 and was ranked #3 in the world at 200 meters as a high school senior. Henry Thomas (born July 10, 1967) is a former American sprinter known for running at the high school and collegiate levels. A versatile athlete, he was successful at 100 metres through 400 metres, holding the World Youth best for 100 metres (for over 10 years), set in a race 7 days after he set the world Youth best in the 400 metres. He is the only athlete to simultaneously appear in both the 100m and 400m top lists. Thomas led the team at Hawthorne High School, in Hawthorne, California of the 1980s to win the CIF California State Meet in both 1983 and 1984. Individually, he won the 200 metres in both 1983 and 1984—setting the state record that lasted 14 years, the 100 metres in 1984 after finishing second as a sophomore the previous year—setting the state record that lasted 5 years, and anchored his team to 4 × 400 metres relay victories in both years. Bill Green (sprinter)
William Ernest Green (May 10, 1961 – March 4, 2012) was an American sprinter. Green came on the scene at Cubberley High School in Palo Alto, California. As a junior, he won the 1978 CIF California State Meet in the 440 yard dash. The following year he won the 100 yard dash while leading Cubberley team to its only CCS title, just days before the high school was to close forever. While technically still a high schooler, a few weeks later he took third overall at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in 45.51, setting the National High School record in the 400 metres. The record lasted two years until it was surpassed in the same meet by Darrell Robinson. Three days later he found himself running in Europe with the big boys. That season culminated in him winning a gold medal with the United States 4x400 metres relay team at the World Cup.
