Homerville, Georgia
Homerville is a city in Clinch County, Georgia, United States. Its population was 2,456 at the 2010 census, a decrease of 12.38% from 2,803 in 2000. It is the county seat of Clinch County. It was incorporated February 15, 1869. History Clinch County was created on February 14, 1850, by an act of the Georgia General Assembly, and was named for General Duncan Lamont Clinch, a decorated United States brigadier general and Georgia congressman who had recently died. Clinch, Georgia's 95th county, was formed from land originally inhabited by the Oconee people and consolidated portions of Ware County and Lowndes County. The act creating the county named Elijah Mattox, Simon W. Nichol, Timothy Kirkland, Benjamin Sirmans, and John J. Johnson as commissioners charged with selecting a county seat and constructing a courthouse. The county was created on February 14, 1850, named in honor of Duncan Lamont Clinch. With 8.4 people per square mile of land, Clinch is the most sparsely-populated county in Georgia. Du Pont, Georgia
Du Pont is a town in Clinch County, Georgia, United States. The population was 120 at the 2010 census. According to the 1916 ''History of Clinch County'' the town was first settled around 1856 as Lawton, on the route of the newly chartered Atlantic and Gulf Railroad. During the Civil War, a branch line from Lawton to Live Oak, Florida, was built to assist the movement of Confederate troops and supplies, but was not completed until 1865, when the war was nearly over. Fargo, Georgia
Fargo is a city in Clinch County, Georgia, United States. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 250. Formerly a town, it was incorporated by the Georgia state legislature in 1992, effective on April 1 of that year. Fargo is located near the Okefenokee Swamp and is the western gateway to the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge. Also nearby is Stephen C. Foster State Park. Clinch County High School is a public high school located in Homerville, Georgia, United States. It is part of the Clinch County School District. Athletics CCHS won the "Triple Crown" in the 1988–89 school year by winning state titles in football, boys' basketball, and baseball in one academic school year. Football CCHS has won eight state football championships (1988, 1991, 2002, 2004, 2010, 2015, 2017, 2018). The CCHS football team holds the high-school record for least yards rushing (117) allowed in a 15-game season. The teams’ wins in 2017 and 2018 gave the school its first back-to-back state football titles. Baseball CCHS has six state championships in baseball (1986, 1987, 1989, 1991, 1992, 2003).
