Clik! (Corduroy Album)
''Clik!'' is the fifth album by the London-based acid jazz band Corduroy. It was released on Big Cat Records in 1999. The album featured a sound that was influenced by drum and bass and was produced by Rob Playford. The track "Moshi Moshi" was released as a single and appeared in the soundtrack (closing credits) of the 2002 film ''Ted Bundy''. Corduroy (band)
Corduroy are an English four-piece acid jazz outfit based in London, formed around twins Ben Addison (drums/vocals) and Scott Addison (keyboards/vocals), who were previously in Sire Records act Boys Wonder (Scott had been guitarist with Boys Wonder, while Ben had been the lead vocalist). Joining the twins in the band are Richard Searle and guitarist Simon Nelson-Smith. Searle had been bass player with Doctor and the Medics, who topped the UK Singles Chart in 1986 with a cover version of "Spirit in the Sky". Searle had joined the Addison twins in the final incarnation of Boys Wonder, before the band gradually evolved into Corduroy in 1991, initially forming for a one-off New Year's Eve party. The self-dubbed "fabric four" primarily recorded in a film soundtrack style, and many of their tracks were instrumentals. Drum And Bass
Drum and bass (also written as drum & bass or drum'n'bass and commonly abbreviated as D&B, DnB, or D'n'B) is a genre of electronic dance music characterized by fast breakbeats (typically 165–185 beats per minute) with heavy bass and sub-bass lines, samples, and synthesizers. The genre grew out of the UK's rave scene in the 1990s. The popularity of drum and bass at its commercial peak ran parallel to several other UK dance styles. A major influence was the original Jamaican dub and reggae sound that influenced jungle's bass-heavy sound. Another feature of the style is the complex syncopation of the drum tracks' breakbeat. Big Cat Records is a British independent record label. It launched around 1990 and originally specialized in industrial and noise-rock releases. Moving Shadow is an English breakbeat hardcore, jungle and drum and bass record label which was founded in 1990 by Rob Playford. History The label began in 1990, operating from Playford's Stevenage home. Playford had become a focal point for local, young artists and bedroom producers seeking advice on releasing their own music following the release of his first three 12 inch vinyls. The label's first release with a 'Shadow' prefixed catalogue number came in 1991; the ''Psychotronic EP'' by Earth Leakage Trip. Many artists attributed to early Shadow releases were Playford's aliases or collaborations, such as 2 Bad Mice, a group he formed with Sean O'Keeffe and Simon Colebrooke. "The Joker Is Wild" was released as a single and reached No. 80 in the UK Singles Chart in March 1997. Reception AllMusic awarded the album 4.5 stars, with S. T. ''Return of the Fabric Four'' is the sixth album by the London-based acid jazz band Corduroy. It was released on Acid Jazz Records in 2018. Reception ''Record Collector'' awarded the album with 4 stars and in its review, Lois Wilson called the record "another groovy (imaginary) soundtrack to a 1960s spy film, part-nostalgia, part-originality, wholly fun". In their top 200 albums of 2018, ''Louder Than War'' voted ''Return of the Fabric Four'' at No. 83. Richard Searle
Richard Searle (born 10 July 1963 in London) is a 1960s-influenced bass guitarist, who was a member of Doctor and the Medics in 1986, when they were reaching number one in the pop charts. Career Doctor and the Medics After Doctor and the Medics Searle left Doctor and the Medics in 1990. He appeared in two different line-ups of the Brit-pop band Boys Wonder, both before and after they were dropped by Sire Records in the late 1980s. A co-founder of the acid jazz band Corduroy in 1991, named by manager, Alex Bienkov, Searle's fast and fluid bass guitar playing style was foremost in the funky punky sound of the new mod outfit. Corduroy was a four-piece band based in south east London, formed with twins Ben and Scott Addison, formerly of Boys Wonder. Angie Brown
Angie Brown (born 13 June 1963) is a British singer and songwriter from Brixton, South London. She is a co-artist on the hit single " I'm Gonna Get You" (1992) by Bizarre Inc and performed on a number of recordings with them as lead vocalist including the single "Took My Love" (1993) released by the record label Vinyl Solution.
