''Cliffbrook'' is a heritage-listed former residence, school and government building and now university research, administration building and university press located at 45-51 Beach Street, Coogee, New South Wales, Coogee in the City of Randwick local government area of New South Wales, Australia. Built in 1921, its design is attributed to John Kirkpatrick. The building is owned by the University of New South Wales. The property was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999. Coogee is a beachside suburb of local government area City of Randwick 8 kilometres south-east of the Sydney central business district, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Sir Denison Samuel King Miller , (8 March 1860 – 6 June 1923) was the first governor of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. Early life Miller was born at Fairy Meadow, near Wollongong, New South Wales, the son of Samuel King Miller, head teacher at the Deniliquin public school and his wife Sarah Isabella, née Jones. He completed his education there. Career At 16 years of age, Miller entered the service of the Bank of New South Wales at Deniliquin (1876), and six years later was transferred at his own request to the head office at Sydney. George Hill (Australian Politician)
George Hill (25 March 1802 – 19 July 1883) was an Australian politician. He was born at Parramatta to convicts William Hill and Mary Johnston. He became a butcher, as did his father, and eventually held significant real estate, as well as land on the Murrumbidgee River. He served on Sydney City Council from 1842 to 1851 and from 1857 to 1858, and was mayor in 1850. He was also a member of the New South Wales Legislative Council from 1848 to 1849 and from 1856 to 1861. He was twice married: first to Mary Ann Hunter, and then to Jane Binnie, with whom he had ten children. Hill died at Surry Hills in 1883. He built Durham Hall, Albion Street, Surry Hills in about 1835, and lived there until his death.
