Clic (album)
''Clic'' is a 1974 album by Italian experimental musician Franco Battiato. The album, released on the Bla Bla label (catalogue BBXL 10006) is a brooding and intense collection of instrumental/vocal arrangements. Dedicated to Karlheinz Stockhausen, the music has stylistic similarities with Philip Glass and Tangerine Dream, but is more lyrical and has elements of musique concrète. It was also released on 1974, on the Island label (ILPS 9323), in the UK with a different tracklist. Reception Reviewing the 1998 re-release of album for AllMusic, Ned Raggett said: Aside from backing vocals and a string quartet, everything else is Battiato's doing, with the Krautrock touches apparent in his previous work starting to surface all the more readily here. Things are generally more meditative and reflective, though certainly Battiato isn't far from his usual wry humor (thus "Propriedad Prohibida," the title of his bitterly wry take on more-leftist-than-thou Italian bands of the time like Area, ... Pino Massara
Pino Massara (24 April 1931 - 23 July 2013) was an Italian musician, composer, record producer and conductor. Born in Vigevano as Giuseppe Previde Massara, graduated in chemistry, from the university years he devoted himself to jazz music. Among his successful songs "Permette, signorina?", originally performed by Nicola Arigliano and later covered by Nat King Cole with the title "Cappuccina", "I Sing ammore" and "Grazie prego scusi", both recorded by several artists including Dean Martin, "Nel Sole", which sold over one million copies and launched the career of Al Bano, and "Siamo la coppia più bella del mondo", a duet between Adriano Celentano and Claudia Mori which was number one at the Italian hit parade for six weeks. Juri Camisasca
Roberto Camisasca (born 9 August 1951), best known as Juri Camisasca, is an Italian singer-songwriter and composer. Life and career Born in Melegnano, a self-taught musician, Camisasca debuted in 1974 with the progressive rock album ''La finestra dentro'', produced by Pino Massara and Franco Battiato, which received large critical acclaim. In the following years he collaborated as a vocalist and as a songwriter with Battiato and with other singers, and he took part in the musical project Telaio Magnetico. In 1979 Camisasca decided to enter a Benedictine monastery, still keeping active as a songwriter for artists such as Milva, Alice and Giuni Russo. In 1987 he left the monastic life to embrace an eremitical life at the slopes of Mount Etna. After participating in the Battiato's opera ''Genesi'' as a singer and as the narrating voice, he reprised his record activity in 1988 with the album ''Te Deum''. Gianni Bedori (25 November 1930 – 21 January 2005), also known as Johnny Sax, was an Italian jazz saxophonist, clarinetist, flautist and composer. Gianfranco Mocchetti, also known as Gianni Mocchetti, (31 May 1947 – 28 January 2013) was an Italian singer-songwriter, guitarist and bassist. Career Mocchetti began playing the guitar with beat groups and formed the group Cristalli fragili, with Gianfranco D'Adda on drums and percussion and Richard Pirolli on vocals (the latter of whom would later have a solo career under the name Genco Pure & Co.) In the same period he began working as a session musician in the recording studio, playing on records by various artists. In 1971 Cristalli fragili were discovered by Franco Battiato, and with the addition of other musicians, including keyboardist Roberto Cacciapaglia, the group became the Battiatio's support group in the studio and in live performances. Mbira ( ) are a family of musical instruments, traditional to the Shona people of Zimbabwe. They consist of a wooden board (often fitted with a resonator) with attached staggered metal tines, played by holding the instrument in the hands and plucking the tines with the thumbs (at minimum), the right forefinger (most mbira), and sometimes the left forefinger. Musicologists classify it as a lamellaphone, part of the plucked idiophone family of musical instruments. In Eastern and Southern Africa, there are many kinds of mbira, often accompanied by the hosho, a percussion instrument. It is often an important instrument played at religious ceremonies, weddings, and other social gatherings. The VCS 3 (or VCS3; an initialism for ''Voltage Controlled Studio, version #3'') is a portable analog synthesizer with a flexible modular voice architecture introduced by Electronic Music Studios (London) Limited (EMS) in 1969. EMS released the product under various names. Saxophone
The saxophone (often referred to colloquially as the sax) is a type of single-reed woodwind instrument with a conical body, usually made of brass. As with all single-reed instruments, sound is produced when a reed on a mouthpiece vibrates to produce a sound wave inside the instrument's body. Rick Wakeman
Richard Christopher Wakeman (born 18 May 1949) is an English keyboardist best known as a former member of the progressive rock band Yes across five tenures between 1971 and 2004, and for his solo albums released in the 1970s. Born and raised in West London, Wakeman intended to be a concert pianist but quit his studies at the Royal College of Music in 1969 to become a full-time session musician. His early sessions included playing on "Space Oddity", among others, for David Bowie, and songs by Junior's Eyes, T. Rex, Elton John, and Cat Stevens.
