Endre Johannes Cleven
Endre Johannes Cleven (May 8, 1874 – July 3, 1916) was a Norwegian-born American Canadian who was prominent in the settlement and culture of Norwegian immigrants in Manitoba, Canada, during the early 20th century. The paragraph relating to his photography has been added.)'' Cleven was the youngest of seven siblings, was born in Skudenes, Norway to Ingebjorg and Johannes Kleven. Johannes Kleven was a music teacher in Skudeneshavn, one of the main towns of the Skudenes parish of the island of Karmøy, Rogaland. Cleven studied music under his father during his childhood, but was not able to pursue a musical education when his father's death, when Cleven was nine, left the family in poverty. Cleven "Goodie" Goudeau
Cleven "Goodie" Goudeau (c. January 15, 1932 – January 26, 2015) was an art director and cartoonist, credited as originator of the first line of African American contemporary greeting cards. He held the record at one time for the longest card (4 feet), and produced the first nationally published card featuring a Black Santa Claus. Biography When Goudeau was 19, the manager of the shop where he worked caught him drawing on boxes in the back room, and recruited him to make some cartoons for the Naval Supply Newsletter. After meeting Morrie Turner (creator of ''Wee Pals'') and seeing that it was possible to make money as a cartoonist, Goudeau decided to pursue it as a profession. He published works in other U.S. Navy publications, and later worked for the ''Oakleaf'' newspaper in Oakland. He was the writer of ''Soul Folks'' and ''Fish Tales Cartoons''. Chiavenna ( lmo, Ciavèna ; la, Clavenna; rm, Clavenna or ''Claven''; archaic german: Cläven or ''Kleven'') is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Sondrio in the northern Italian region of Lombardy. It is the centre of the Alpine Valchiavenna region. The historic town is a member of the Cittaslow movement. Geography Chiavenna is located about north of Milan and about northwest of Sondrio. The town is situated on the right bank of the river Mera about north of Lake Como. The river course leads up to Val Bregaglia in the east and the Swiss border at Castasegna. In the north, the Valle Spluga stretches up to Passo dello Spluga and the road to Chur in the Grisons. Clevens Loch, Ayrshire
Clevens Loch was a substantial freshwater loch situated in a low-lying area below Clevance Farm and Langholm Farm in Dundonald parish, South Ayrshire, Scotland. History The loch was a natural feature, a post-glacial 'Kettle Hole' once of a substantial extent, fed mainly by the Rumbling Burn, rainfall, field drainage, and natural springs. It is recorded in the placename of Langholm and clevance. The etymology of the name may derive from the Scots for 'spear-shaped hill' referring to the shape of the glen and hills surrounding it. The Rumbling Burn has been diverted away from the site. The loch site still floods in winter. An outflow runs down to the Cross Burn. Langholm Farm's name translates from Scots as a long stretch of low-lying land beside water; it is not recorded on maps until after the loch was drained.
