Cleveland Rugby League
The Cleveland Rugby League are an American amateur rugby league football club based in Cleveland, Ohio. They are a founding member of the new North American Rugby League that will begin in 2022. History The Cleveland Rugby League team were first established in 2018 by Toronto Wolfpack trialist, Monte Gaddis. Initially they planned to start the Midwest Rugby League Conference where they would play a rugby league 9s game against the Chicago Stockyarders. Cleveland's first match was against USA Rugby League club, the Northern Virginia Eagles. On 31 March 2021 it was announced a new professional North American Rugby League competition with 14 teams taking part, including Cleveland Rugby League. On 19 April 2021 it was announced that experienced Australian coach Glenn Morrison had been appointed as Director of Rugby; Morrison has previously been head coach at Dewsbury Rams, in the RFL Championship and the Jamaican national team. Glenn Morrison
Glenn Adam Morrison (born 28 May 1976), is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer and coach. He played for the Parramatta Eels, the Balmain Tigers, the North Sydney Bears and the North Queensland Cowboys in the National Rugby League before moving to England to play for the Bradford Bulls and then the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats ( Heritage No. 1274) (captain). He was later the head coach of the Dewsbury Rams. In 2021, Morrison was appointed Head coach of Cleveland Rugby League, in the newly created North American Rugby League. Playing career Early career Morrison began playing junior football for the Terrigal Sharks in the Central Coast Rugby League. Northern Virginia Eagles
The Northern Virginia Eagles are a rugby league team based in Manassas, Virginia, U.S. The club currently plays in the USA Rugby League (USARL). From 2007 to 2011 they were known as the Fairfax Eagles and were based in nearby Fairfax, Virginia. The Fairfax Eagles were founded in 2007 as an expansion team of the American National Rugby League (AMNRL), but did not begin play until the 2008 season. They competed in the AMNRL for three years, making playoff appearances in 2009 and 2010. In January 2011 the Eagles became one of seven teams to depart from the AMNRL to form the new USA Rugby League (USARL), but the team ceased operations before the season. The North American Rugby League (NARL) is an unsanctioned rugby league club competition in North America. At launch, the league announced fourteen teams; twelve from United States and two from Canada. An inaugural season was planned for 2021 but was deferred until 2022 due to increased health and safety needs regarding COVID-19 and insurance and travel costs. The league will now launch with six foundation teams, five from the United States and former professional Super League member club Toronto Wolfpack from Canada. Jamaica National Rugby League Team
The Jamaica national rugby league team represents Jamaica in international rugby league tournaments. Administered by the Jamaica Rugby League Association, the team made their full international debut at the 2009 Atlantic Cup against the United States. The team will make their first appearance at the Rugby League World Cup in 2021. They primarily wear yellow jerseys with green shorts and green socks. RFL Championship
The Championship, known as the Betfred Championship for sponsorship reasons, is a professional rugby league competition. It is the Rugby Football League Championship Second Division, second-tier competition organised by the Rugby Football League, the governing body for the sport in England, and consists of 14 teams, with promotion to the Super League and relegation to the third-tier competition, RFL League 1, League One. The league announced a two-year sponsorship deal with the bookmaking company Betfred ahead of the 2018 RFL Championship, 2018 season. Dewsbury Rams
The Dewsbury Rams are a professional English rugby league club based in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire that compete in the Championship. They play their home games at the Tetley's Stadium, on Owl Lane. The Rams' main fanbase comes from their hometown of Dewsbury, but they also hold a strong following in Shaw Cross as well as in neighbouring Gawthorpe and Ossett, among other places. The USA Rugby League (USARL) is the official governing body for rugby league, a code of rugby football, in the United States. The organization also runs the national amateur competition for club teams in the US. The league consists of six teams located in east coast states whose season ends in the USARL Grand Final.
