The Cleveland Indians were a professional ice hockey team in Cleveland, Ohio, that played home games in the Elysium Arena. In 1929, the Kitchener Dutchmen International Hockey League (IHL) franchise was transferred to Cleveland. In the summer of 1934, the team was renamed the Cleveland Falcons, and under that name became a charter member of the International-American Hockey League—today's American Hockey League. The Elysium Arena was an indoor arena at the corner of E. 107th St. and Euclid in Cleveland, Ohio. It hosted the American Hockey League's Cleveland Falcons from 1936 to 1937. The Cleveland Falcons were a professional ice hockey team in Cleveland, Ohio, that played home games in the Elysium Arena. The team was founded in 1929, as the Cleveland Indians as a member of the International Hockey League, where they played for five seasons, then renamed the Falcons. In 1936, the team transferred to the International-American Hockey League along with three other teams from the International Hockey League. Ice Hockey
Ice hockey (or simply hockey) is a team sport played on ice skates, usually on an ice skating rink with lines and markings specific to the sport. It belongs to a family of sports called hockey. In ice hockey, two opposing teams use ice hockey sticks to control, advance and shoot a closed, vulcanized, rubber disc called a " puck" into the other team's goal. Each goal is worth one point. Kitchener Dutchmen (CPHL)
The Berlin Dutchmen were an early professional ice hockey team operating out of Berlin, Ontario, (renamed Kitchener in 1916) from 1907 in the Ontario Professional Hockey League (OPHL). The Berlin team is notable for challenging for the Stanley Cup in 1910 versus the Montreal Wanderers. The dormant team was revived in 1926 as the Kitchener Dutchmen of the Canadian Professional Hockey League. The dormant name was revived in 1947 as the senior Kitchener-Waterloo Dutchmen, notable for winning Canada a bronze medal at the 1956 Olympics and a silver medal at the 1960 Olympics. The American Hockey League (AHL) is a professional ice hockey league based in the United States and Canada that serves as the primary Minor league#Ice hockey, developmental league for the National Hockey League (NHL). Since the 2010–11 AHL season, 2010–11 season, every team in the league has an affiliation agreement with one NHL team. When NHL teams do not have an AHL affiliate, players are assigned to AHL teams affiliated with other NHL teams. 1937–38 AHL Season
The 1937–38 AHL season was the second season of the International-American Hockey League, known in the present day as the American Hockey League. It was the second season in which the International Hockey League and Canadian-American Hockey League played an interlocking schedule as a "circuit of mutual convenience" with an interlocking schedule. Teams played a 48 game season, with the IHL serving as the West Division and the C-AHL serving as the East Division. The Cleveland Barons won the F. G. "Teddy" Oke Trophy as the Western Division champions, while the Providence Reds won the Calder Cup as league champions. After the season, the IHL and C-AHL formerly merged into a unified league under the I-AHL name.
