Araminta de Clermont (born 1971) is a British photographer who in 2010 was living and working in London, although she had spent nearly ten years living in Cape Town. Her work explores rites of passage, and the visual currencies of group identification and is particularly concerned with highlighting the art forms and self-expression of her often marginalised subjects. She is perhaps best known for her bodies of work exploring the relationship between person and environment in South Africa. In 2010 she was a winner of Spier Contemporary. Gaston Clermont (5 December 1913 – 12 January 2005) was a Liberal party member of the House of Commons of Canada and a Canadian businessman. Clermont was born in Chomedey, Quebec (now Laval, Quebec). He is the son of Romain Clermont and Dina Hotte. Clermont was educated in Montreal and entered business at Thurso. In 1946, he married Marie-Blanche Boulerice. He was first elected at the Labelle riding in a 31 October 1960 by-election and served for the latter portion of the 24th Canadian Parliament. Maurice Clermont (March 11, 1944 in Laval, Quebec - February 10, 2022 in Sainte-Adèle, Quebec) was a former Quebec politician. He was the Member of National Assembly of Quebec for the riding of Mille-Iles in the Laval region. He was a member of the Quebec Liberal Party. Graduating from the Food Trade School, Clermont was for 23 years the owner of a local supermarket as well as a butcher. In 1986, he became an investment manager. Abraham Of Clermont
Abraham of Clermont (died 479) was the founder and abbot of the monastery of Cyriacus, St.Cyriacus in Clermont-Ferrand. He was born in Byzantine Syria, along the Euphrates River and was of Persian origins. He later left for Byzantine Egypt, to visit some of the hermits there. On the way to Egypt, he was captured and held a prisoner for five years. After escaping, he went to Gaul and founded a new community of monks near the basilica of Saint Cyricus not far from St. Illidius church (St.Allyre) near Clermont-Ferrand, Clermont. He died around 479. Apollinaris Sedonius, bishop of Clermont wrote an epitaph on the grave of St. Abraham from which we learned some facts from saint's life. Jean de Clermont (died 19 September 1356), Lord of Chantilly and of Beaumont, was a Marshal of France (1352) who was killed fighting in the Hundred Years' War at the Battle of Poitiers. Jean de Clermont served under the Count of Eu in 1340 during the campaigns in Hainault and Flanders. The following years he fought in Normandy, Avignon and the Languedoc. In 1352 he was sent to Flanders to negotiate a truce with the English. After the signing of the truce he was made governor of Poitou, Saintonge, Angoumois, Périgord and Limousin (1354). In 1356, Jean advised King John II of France not to engage the English in battle but to surround them and starve them.
