Clem Daniels
Clemon Daniels Jr. (July 9, 1937 – March 23, 2019) was an American professional football player who was a halfback in the American Football League (AFL) and the National Football League (NFL). College career At Prairie View A&M University, he was voted to All-Conference honors during his sophomore and junior years, and captained the NAIA National Football Championship team in his senior year. He also completed the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) Program at Prairie View A&M, later being a commissioned officer in the United States Army Reserve. Professional career Daniels was signed as a free agent in 1960 by the AFL's Dallas Texans, who, like other AFL teams recruited players from small and predominantly black colleges, which were mainly ignored by the conservative NFL. Halfback (American Football)
A halfback (HB) is an offensive position in American football, whose duties involve lining up in the offensive backfield and carrying the ball on most rushing plays, i.e. a running back. When the principal ball carrier lines up deep in the backfield, and especially when that player is placed behind another player (usually a blocking back), as in the I formation, that player is instead referred to as a tailback. Abner Haynes (born September 19, 1937) is an American former professional football player who was a running back in the American Football League (AFL). Early years and integration of major college football in Texas Born in Denton, Texas, Haynes graduated from Lincoln High School in Dallas in 1956. He played college football at North Texas State College in Denton (now the University of North Texas) where he and his then teammate Leon King integrated college football in the state of Texas in 1957. The Kansas City Chiefs are a professional American football franchise that began play in 1960 as the Dallas Texans. NAIA National Football Championship
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Football National Championship is decided by a post-season playoff system featuring the best NAIA college football teams in the United States. Under sponsorship of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, the championship game has been played annually since 1956. In 1970, NAIA football was divided into two divisions, Division I and Division II, with a championship game played in each division. In 1997, NAIA football was again consolidated into one division.
