Cleburne Independent School District is a public school district based in Cleburne, Texas. In 2009, the school district was rated "academically acceptable" by the Texas Education Agency. History On July 1, 1988, Liberty Chapel Independent School District merged into Cleburne ISD. Schools ; High school (Grades 9-12) *Cleburne High School :*Cleburne has won three state championships. The most recent was in 1995 in 4A girls basketball, and twice before in football, both times being recognized as co-champions when the championship game ended in a tie. Cleburne, Texas
Cleburne is a city in and the county seat of Johnson County, Texas, United States. As of the 2010 census, its population was 29,337. The city is named in honor of Patrick Cleburne, a Confederate general. Lake Pat Cleburne, the reservoir that provides water to the city and surrounding area, is also named after him. History Cleburne is Johnson County's third county seat (the first being Wardville, now under Lake Pat Cleburne). It was formerly known as Camp Henderson, a temporary Civil War outpost from which Johnson County soldiers would depart for war (most of them served under General Cleburne). Cleburne High School is a public high school located in the city of Cleburne, Texas. The school is in the Cleburne Independent School District. History A high school was occupied in Cleburne in the 1910s, replacing an older schoolhouse. The school was completely renovated in 2020. 2017 riots On March 22, 2017, following a series of controversial decisions by the school district, beginning with the school board not allowing a former coach attend his son's college signing, a large portion of the student body protested in both the bottom and upper floor of the high school. DeWayne Christopher Burns (born June 22, 1972) is an American politician serving as a member of the Texas House of Representatives from the 58th district. Elected in 2014, he assumed office in 2015.
